Did the M10 Wolverine ever mount a 90mm gun? My knowledge of the Wolverine is a bit limited.

I know the M36 Jackson had a 90mm, and it was basically an M10 hull...but I dont like the looks of the Jackson turret. So I was wondering If I could put a 90mm in a M10.

It would probobly be a hypothetical tank im thinking.

Thanks.

Not if you have any aspirations for accuracy.

The M10 turret was built so that it could accomodate the British 17 pounder and the U.S. 105mm howitzer. However, the first pilot M10 was tested with a 90mm T7 gun in in late 1942. These tests showed that a new, larger turret was required to mount the 90mm gun properly. This eventually resulted in the the M36. The 90mm gun version of the M10 with the M10 turret never saw combat and was a one off.

I think it was a 75mm

The basic M10 gun was a naval 3" or 76.2mm gun.

BTW the M10 was never called the Wolverine in WW 2 and the 17 pdr armed version was not the Achillies. Achillies is a post war name and Wolverine possibly has postwar Canadian Army origins. The proper name is 17 pdr SP, M10.
