Gentlemen,
Is there anyone out there that that's into German AFV's prior to to the Panther and Pannzer IV F2? I'm currently obessed with the Pzkpfw III, marks E through J and Sturmgeschutz A to E. From reading all the posts I see only Tiger I's, Tiger II's and Panthers! Straying a little bit I long for the day when one of the major manufacturers will come out with a Pz 38 T. ! Bought the Maquette kit and after opening the box I was depressed with the sink holes, ejector pin marks and even broken pieces. The only other 38 T I built was an Italieri Kit. Touted as an Ausf. E. it was abysmal.
I'm not talking about expensive resin kits just the big boys! Tamaya and Dragon have both released variants based on the 38 T, but not the "Tank" models.

We all have our favorites that we wish would get kitted. I've drifted over to the Allied side and you should hear the chorus of pleading for an M2/M3 halftrack series.
Anyways, I agree w/you about the Italeri kit. I think the Maquette one can be a good basis but will require lots of work. It WOULD be great if it could get a treatment by the likes of Tamiya or DML. Heck, I'll take CMK (their Pz 35 (t) was nice).
BTW, Stavka scanned a bunch of pics from Chamberlain and Doyle's "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WW2" -- those are in his "blackened muzzle" thread.

Hi Paul,
I like the Pz38(t) too and I agree that it 's not a well covered subject in plastic modelling. But all this will change very soon - Dragon has announced that they'll be releasing the Pz38 (t) Ausf G (DR6290) though the timing of it is unclear yet.
Ken :-)

ericadeane,
Don't get me wrong. There is allot about the Maquette kit that is great. Good detail, separate parts, etc. But their quality control is terrible! I have the CMK Skoda 35 T and it is seems to be a fine effort. Speaking of allied tanks I would love to see a release of the M 5 fast artillery towing tractor! (I'm not talking about the overpriced resin kit) but the newer model that looks like the " Lost In Space" rover. Years ago BANDAI released the kit in 1/35 but it was horrible. After years I finally trashed it. Couldn't even use it for the spares box!

I'm with you... The earlier armor appeals to me the most. I plan on building as many variants of the PZ III as I can as well as the StuGs. I'd also like to do the allied tanks of france 1940 as well, but not so high on my priority list.
The PZ III IMO is one of the coolest looking tanks of the war, though I rate the Crusaders in my top 3 coolest looking tanks as well
