Oh my I bought a new 1/16 tank. Never thought I would get addicted to these things so quickly.
Oh well I bought this tank from another member of Battle Tanks Nederland. It's an old Sherman with a 76mm and a lot of missing detail.
The tank does include gearboxes and some "home made" but good working modification to control the turret.
There are a lot "to-do" things, including replacement of the barrel, cleaning, adding detail, removing the armored plates etc.
For now some pic how the tank looks now!
The ultimate goal is to convert it to a full option "Sandbagged Sherman" based on this pic:

It's always good to have a 'project tank' going!
Looks like you're off to a great start!

Thanks Jeff.
Does anyone have an idea how to replace the muzzle break?
I can of course also use a barrel without one (some WW2 M4A3E8's were equipped with such a barrel) but it would look better with a muzzle break...(also for the flash unit)
Maybe a German 75mm muzzle break?
Looks pretty much like the 76mm muzzle break...
Cheers,
Martin

It depends on if it was made to fit (correct I.D.) the barrel. Might be best to replace both barrel and brake from one manufacturer. If it was an Elite Armor barrel, Bob Morey (spelling) used to make a cast white metal brake to fit that barrel instead of using the resin unit.
I hope this is what you were asking!

Well, finally some sandbags on my Sherman!
By now the hull is "sandbagged" completely. Just need to add the racks/frame!

I used Internet Explorer and looked at where you're linking 'em from, and the flaw may be there. I tried the links directly by plugging the photo.Kitmaker.net web-links into IE, and they still fail.
Is Kitmaker doing upgrades? Could very well be why the images aren't accessable.

I don't know what the brown stuff is actually...maybe primer or something like glue from the previous owner. Extra armour plates were added there.
The Sherman can drive already! This sunday I also hope to receive the things I need to give my Sherman some sound effects
The frame itself is ok, but it needs to be closer to the sandbags. It now doesn't look like the sandbags are being held in place by the frame, they don't "rest" in the frame.
Don't know how to explain it better in English :-)

Martin:
Those bags look really good, how'd you make 'em?
For the rails, mebbe run the tank around a bit to 'settle' them into the framing, then pack some more in on top? That or perhaps move the rail mounts to be glued to the top of the fender, not to the side of it?
Did you use any support posts from the frames to the hull along the sides, to prevent the frames flexing outward?
Looks good.

Hi all,
I've made new racks, this time from brass. Lot stronger!
Now working on the racks for the turret and front hull.
