Hello Gentlemen,

I'm having the buying fever again in these cold and cloudy days.
But, as usual, money don't grow in the trees...
So I decided to buy a cheap (but valuable) kit.
And Bronco models pak 40 and 10,5 cm mounted on H39 fit my willing (15€). But I wonder if they are good detailed kits ? Let say I'm not really found of the small detail, but rather I look for good overall quality, especially in building the kit (I'm fed up with italieri kits which never fit well, always problems with parts, etc..and moreover, they become more and more expensive !). So I want the building to be simple and not a pain in the ass.. On that price I'm ok to buy a PE set to add some details.
To sum up : does the broncos model are easy to build and have correct details ? If any one have pics of built model, I would greatly appreciate, since I didn't found one on google.

Best regards,

Julien

You've found somewhere that sells Bronco models?

They have been promising and promising for over a year and no-one has yet seen anything. The sprue shots on the Perth Military Modelling Site look really nice and I would buy some if they ever come out....

Julien, no-one has built one as Bronco hasn't released anything yet . Lots are living in hope that something will eventually appear, the more cynical of us are describing Bronco's 'plans' as simply Airware....Jim

I thought all of Broncos models were still in "hypothetical mode." I don't think any have been released yet, so I doubt you will get any feedback. I'm guessing what you saw was pre-order information, but who knows maybe some are out and I've just missed the announcement.

They've been tempting us since the end of 2004 with this

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/bronco/cb35001.htm

Trumpeter managed a pre-emptive strike with their versions and Bronco went quiet. Recently they've been back with a Comet - A Comet !!

A Comet would greatly be appreciated. The PMMS review was, again, exciting and promising but we the consumers are snubbed yet again.
Airware?How about Promospam?
No distributor announcements of shipments enroute. No pre-order offers from the usual outlets that have that option.BTW,when the pre-order option is available,it usually means another 4-6 weeks before kits hit the dock.
Comet is supposed to be on market now according to their latest PR/BS/bun-smoke/market misfire.
With 14,000+ members,Armorama could have produced and shipped a resin and PE edition by now!
cheers!

Loool
In France we called it "l'Arlésienne" (masterpiece of the French compositor Geroges Bizet) : you hear it, it sounds pretty beautifull, but never came.
I went on WW2modelmaker gallery and saw 2 built models of the 10,5 cm on H39. One was scrathbuilt, the other was build from the bronco model by El Senor Torres (he wrote a pretty nice article on his web site). I may be dreaming, but I'm pretty shure to have seen those Bronco ghost model in my local hobbyshop in Paris. Blast store propose them to buy.. But maybe I'm wrong...
Anyway I will check this week end..
A plus is that the 10,5 as it were used in normandy could be paint with a brush, no airbrush required (I don't have one).
Keep you informed.
Best

Ah Bronco models. They certainly have a different way of marketing their products. You suppose they get a kick back from modeling sites based on every hit they record about their products? :-) Just kidding but it's a thought. It's hard to believe they've gone to all the trouble of producting box art, sample sprues, etc, and then never get the product into our hot little hands. That Comet looks great, but let's see Jimbrae actually get one to review before we all get excited about it.

Is it possible that Trumpter and Bronco are one in the same? They both list exactly the same kits, but only Trumpter releases them for North America, Bronco for Europe?

Just my 2 canadian cents

I'd love to find out they've realeased their much-promised Hotchkiss H39. I have the old Heller kit, and want to build up a variant captured and put into service with the Germans, but I've been holding off waiting for the supposedly better Bronco kit.

This is about as close as any of us have seen a model from Bronco. I hope they finally do release a kit soon.

LionMarc Productions is right down the street from one of the supposed Bronco dealers. I've asked him many times and so far Brnoco is a definate no show. As soon as they are rekeased I 'm hoping to import them into the US for American modelers. As I hear any news I will be sure to let you all know.

Thanks

Nope!Put that same question and theory into the forums of ML and the members supposedly in the know denied it.PMMS did a three way comparison of the French armor from Heller,Trumpeter, and Bronco. Both Trumpeter and Bronco had excellent details and ratings, but were distinctly differant. The older Heller kit was a very distant third.
I am completely baffled as to the reasons Bronco is behaving as it is.I see no reason to keep the kits off the market. They have to sell in order to generate income.Yet all the hobby world gets is bun-smoke PR announcements.
So let's invent the intrigue factor to get even,eh?

A sure fire way to keep a rivals new, competitive product out of the market is to.............buy them.
What if Mr.T,Trumpeter, and AFV Club are embroiled in a very hush-hush 3 way bidding war and Bronco is teasing up the money pot with PR and PMMS rave reviews? I excluded Italeri as they don't strike me as particularly rich enough to be a player. That said,it might explain why they are seemingly over-pricing their new releases in order to get more revenue In their case, a full blown merger may fit them better.
Possible scenario?Yep.Probable? It would be the biggest deal in the hobby of all time.
Dragon doesn't get in as a player because their current plan of world domination is running along at flank speed and they could care less about Bronco's market impact.
cheers!
..........and stay tuned

Trumpeter went the other way and flooded the market with their not very good Hotchkisses as a spoiler, snatching away Bronco's market.

Bronco are only a minnow in the modelling world, and there are some sharks out there.....

I've actually come to an editorial decision about News Coverage of Bronco Models. Until they actually produce something which is real - i.e. a kit which physically exists, I'm not running ANY news stories on them.

I ran the initial story on them, with an impressive list of future plans - 1/16th, 1/35th and 1/72nd. Now I feel, the joke has gone on long enough. It's not the responsibility of the News section to build up people's illusions over such items as 1/35th Cents and 1/16th Panthers only to have nothing actually appear.

If Bronco want to be taken seriously, then they behave like any other company - produce. Until that day arrives, i'm not wasting any more time on their 'announcements'....Jim

Bounjour Julien,

Since we're all in agreement that you might wait rather a while for a Bronco kit... :-)

If it is a PaK40 you are after why not consider one of the DML kits? I'm sure they will give you a lot more satisfaction than a Bronco or an Italeri kit...

Bonjour Rudi !

Merci pour les conseils. I already have the old tamiya pack 40 on my stash waiting to be build.
In fact I was looking for gun mounted on Hotchkiss. Sorry for my precedent post, I mixed up Trumpeter and Bronco kits...
As Trumpeter one is also cheap, I will buy it. Anyone has ever built a TRUMPETER one ? :-)
Anyway, Jim, that's a wise decision since they announce rare and interesting kit but never released them : they treat us like a fool...
ps: Sultan, you watched to much the movie the firm...
Best to all,
Julien

This is what you get with the Trumpeter one:

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/trumpeter/tr00354.htm

Yuo will find that the tracks need to be made shorter and that the fit of parts isn't always great.

In Bronco's defence, they do have a mold for the Comet as seen here:

I just wish they get the damn thing out already...

Anyway, happy modelling guys
