I have been searching online and in my reference books to find out about the turret markings on the turret skirts but have not seen any good photos. So,does the Panzer IV H/J turret skirts have the black and white cross on the back of the turret skirt? Also, would they have the turret numbers there as well as the black and white cross?

Inevitably, the answer is not clear cut.

This one has a cross

and these from 2nd Panzer Division have a number

David hits the nail on the head, there are as many different possibilities as there are Pzr IV's... Panzer Colors by Bruce Culvert shows many photo's of every conceivable option. Unless you are building a specific vehicle, you can use your artistic licence and go with what you find most pleasing.

Cheers

New Vanguard #39 on the late Pz.IV's shows a cross OR the vehicle number, not both at once. Bear in mind when you say "H/J" you are talking about the most numerous and widely distributed type over a period covering spring '43 onward to the end of the war. That gives you a pretty wide latitude to do just about whatever you want. HTH. Keith.

PS: Just to clarify; I'm reading "H/J" as Pz. IV Ausf. H/Ausf. J, not (H)itler (J)ugend ie: 12 SS Pz.Div. Correct?
