How much do you assemble before painting?

Brian,
I paint tanks as subassemblies. Open top vehicles have even more subassembly painting, since I can't get to the interior after assembly.
I like to paint roadwheels and track off the vehicle. Wheels I weather after installation, track I weather before. I also leave off all tools and paint them separately, until after painting the base and camo.

I'd say it depends on the tank - but generally I paint subassemblies of : turret, hull, roadwheels, tracks.
It also depends on how I'm going to paint - airbrush or brush. I'll do more subassemblies with airbrushing vs. brushing.

Not a tank, but I do paint in stages.
