I'm trying to assemble a set of the rubber-chevron style of track for the M26 Pershing, from the AFV Club set. The links and guide-teeth are annoying-enough, but the end-connectors are driving me nuts. AFV intend for them to be friction-fit, but they won't stay on. I've lost nearly 10 so far. I can't put glue to them yet, since I haven't got the set finished to shape around the suspension. I tried dabbing a little Dorland's Wax Medium, thinking it might hold them in place, but it isn't sticky enough.

Any suggestions?

The top and bottom runs will be straight anyway, so why not stick them together to save pinging connectors off into the blue?

If you want to thicken the pins up a bit a little touch of CA/superglue will bulk them up a bit and set quickly too. Just don't try press-fitting until you're certain the glue has cured

Another suggestion that I've been meaning to try is using Elmers' Wood Glue (it's a thicker yellow glue). More forgiving than cement or CA (can be cleaned off) but tacky enough.

I made a jig by cutting a slot in a piece of
soft wood, set the track pieces upside down in
the slot. clamp or glue a piece of quarter inch
soft wood so the end connecters touch it.
This way you can put 4 or 5 link ends at a time
