First I want to apologize for continually bugging you guys about this stuff lately. I really thought I had figured out my airbrush.
But anyway its doing something strange on me again.
The 1st side it was doing good but kind of started to die a little till I got to the one end.
After I turned the ship around and tried to paint the other side it really just kind of died.
I’m using an aztek 1000s with the gray tip.
At first I thought I just needed a bigger tip but after seeing the other side I really don’t know what happened.

Maybe you ran out of paint? What happened, did it start to spray irregularly?

Well, I'd have to ask what's you air supply? I recommend a nice compressor with a receiver and regulator. But if you are using the cans. try putting it in a bowl of warm water to extend you spray time. Another issue may be clogging. You might need to thin out you paint alittle more for you aztek to work more effieciently. Also note that you can pull the pin outa those tip and clean the pin. You'll void warranty on the nozzle. but it can be a cause problematic operation. I can't seem to think of any thing else about the aztek, I stopped using them ages ago, and went for a problem free Iwata that I got while stationed in Japan. HTH STUG

David it just kind of stopped spraying as much paint. I checked the paint level and even tried adding a little more but it didn’t help.
Steve I have a big old air compressor with a regulator. The only thing it still needs on the line is a moister trap just haven’t gotten around to getting one yet.
I’ll try it again thinning the paint some more and if that doesn’t work I’ll try cleaning the pin.
How would I go about removing the pin? And how do I clean it?

What kind of paint?
If its acrylic, you may have overthinned or been too close.
Also keep a soft brush handy to clean the tip of your airbrush every 5 minutes or so in case any paint is drying on the needle.
At least this is salvageable.

If you are shooting acrylics I think Marty has the problem spot on! I find that when I use my Azteck for long periods of time with acrylics I need to clean the tip every now and again because of paint drying on the tip, clogging the passage way.
Have fun!

Thanks guys.
They are acrylics so that just may be the problem.
Could also explain why it got so much worse when I switched sides.

Probably it is the time factor. You put your brush down, turned the model and picked up the airbrush again. All in all a few seconds, but most likely enough to get a clogged or clogging tip. And BTW don't be sorry, ask away that is why we are here

Should have added...
I keep a soft brush with windex on it and clean the needle every so often.
If I get the paint thin enough I rarely have to bother though.

Maybe I'm doing something else wrong, but I have most of my problems when I have windex or isopropenol in the paint. I use distilled water or the thinner for the paint. And things go fine....

I think it depends on the paint Brian.
I find Windex works very well with Tamiya acrylics. I have had some troubles with MM Acryl, though that was more with Alcohol, I don't recall my experiences with Windex and MM.

Cleaning the entire nozzle isnt a bad idea at all, I do it after every spray session.
The white part sticking out of the big, in this case, gray part, just pull it out. Inside the white piece is the spring and pin, pull that out too. You should see a little gray piece sticking out.
After you do that, clean it with warm water and a toothbrush(to scrub the spring and outside white piece) for the inside of the gray part, a Q-tip fits perfectly inside, just use it like you're cleaning the barrel of a gun.
Make sure you clean the front of the gray part too, sometimes paint dries up front and causes irregular spray patterns.
I hope thats clear.

Mate,
I keep a bottom feed jar full of windex on hand with my aztec and every now and then take the paint feeder off and give the whole thing a few seconds spray with just windex. Blow it clean then put the paint back on and spray away.
Also if I were you I would get a moisture trap as soon as possible. You will be surprised the amount of water it stops blowing through your brush.
Cheers
Alex H.
PS I use Tamiya and Hobby Acrylics

The alcohol may be contributing to a clogging problem. It's great for thinning acrylics, but it dries very fast, and can make the acrylics dry in the nozzle, causing clogs. I haven't used windex for thinning, only cleaning, so I don't know what that will do when spraying.

Thanks guys.
I’m using Model Master paints and have been thinning them with just water.
For now I have some of azteks airbrush cleaner I’ve been using but when thats all gone i’ll try some windex for cleaning it.
Shain thanks.
I’ll try that sometime here when I get a chance.
Alex I’m waiting until I make my next order from an online hobby shop to get the moisture trap. But I am planing on getting one.

Just wanted to say that I tried again with a wet paintbrush to clean the tip with and it turned out fine.
I hope I’m done bothering you guys for awhile now.
