I've just about completed my Dragon T-34/76 Mod. 1941 and I've got an idea for a dio which I wanna ask you all a few questions about before I start it. Basically I wanna make a dio showing a Russian propaganda scene with the T-34 charging ahead filled with a bunch of tank riders on it, as well as assault infantry running forwards. I have this Tamiya figure set already: http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=TAM35207 and I was wondering if these figures uniforms match the time frame of the T-34 I've built. I was also wondering if anyone knows of any ww2 Russian photographer figures that would work for this scene?

I'm also thinking about building my Trumpeter KV1 or KV2 and adding it as well, but how likely is is that the t34 and a kv1 or 2 would be seen together in a scene like this?

And finally, do you think these figures by DML: http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=DML6197 would fit the time frame as well?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Most of the figures in the Tamiya and Dragon sets wear that quilted type uniform (sorry I don't know the term) that was introduced in 1943.

As for the KVs, the were are the end of their service life in 1943. It is certainly possible for KVs and T34s to work together.

Thanks for the reply, I was kinda worried that those uniforms would be a bit too late. Anyone know if it'd be possible that a T-34/76 mod. 1941 would still be in action in 1943?

hey

sounds like a good dio.i have a dragon t-34/85 and are using the tamiya tank riders in it.

uniforms: standard uniform-gymnastiorka
early in conflict greatcoats and rain capes were often used in wintertime attire.1940 a quilted jacket called telogreika was introduced but not enough supplied in the beginning.

also says they can be used with the t-34/76,85

all in all a good kit

Alan's right about the figures, apart from the telogreika they also have shoulder boards, and these didn't appear until 1943.

It might be possible to set your diorama in the Leningrad region, as older tanks soldiered on there long after other parts of the Russian front. There's no problem with showing T-34s and KV-1s together for propaganda purposes.
