I was just wondering how many people here are planning on purchasing Trumpeters BR52 Kriegslocomotive when it comes out? Myself, I definitely plan on buying 1 at some point, but I'd prefer to wait until it comes on sale sometime, as $120 US is a little pricey for me.

While I can never say never I really don't see myself buying this kit anytime soon. I have enough trouble trying to find time to finish basic AFV kits never mind a huge train.
And for the price there are other kits that I would rather buy.
However I think it will be a very impressive kit. I look forward to seeing some of the builds that will come when its released. Its something thats long overdue in this scale. If its sucessful I can see much more to follow in regards to trains.
You just know that a week after its released some guy in China or Japan will have a whole dio built around this thing. It will feature 20 rail cars loaded with Tigers and Stugs all superdetailed with a rail tunnel, a trestle bridge and in the pine forest next to the river a band of partisans hiding under a destroyed T-34 planning to blow it all up.
Should be very cool

I'm pretty sure this one will be in my stash sooner or later. I'm currently building the Trumpeter Karl Morser w/railway transport. So, I guess you could say I've been bitten by the railroad bug. That BR52 is so cool looking and massive that I don't think I'll be able to pass it up.
John, are you happy with the CMK kit, or not? Can't tell by your response. I've seen a built one and it looks pretty schnazzy!

Howdy westcon,
I can quite garuantee you I will be securing one of these just as soon as it is possible.
And at $120., I will also feel quite comfortable with the purchase.....
Having the advantage {?} of investing boo-koo amounts of time in scratchbuilding several things as of late, having the vast majority of the build already done {even with potential flaws}, is to me 'priceless'......

I'm in the same boat as Carl. I have all of the DML and Tank Workshop rail cars. I had hoped DML was going to do this years ago. I may just have to pick up 2 of these to do all the train dios that I wanted to do Oh so long ago. This is a welcome addition to the family.

The kit is a beauty, but it cost double what the Trumpy kit is going to cost, and there is noway SWMBO will allow two such monster kits to live in the cave! It was hard enough getting one :-)

I already have one on order. Does anyone know what freight cars would go with the locomotive. The reason why is what size is the track width for the BR52 is. I know that the Trumpter Leopold is a different width than the Dragon Leopold. Does anyone know, I have already started on a diorama that will have the BR52 and 3 feight cars with Stug III's on them with a train station etc. I'm wondering which freight cars should I get, either Ironside or Dragon. Help

I've got to say you folks have more time, money, and most important of all SPACE, to model than I do. The box alone for the big guns that Trumpeter and DML put out are too big for me to even store in the usual places I put my stash. I just really can't imagine having the space to put this one away, let along a work bench big enough to work on it. Color me green with envy.
Now when it comes to big kits the new Trumpeter HMS Hood in 1/350 is going to stretch the budget and space considerations to the max. It will be hard, but somehow I'll get er done though.

My Dad is always saying I should leave armor modelling and get into model railroading like he is. I guess this sort of qualifies.

With both this one and the Hood coming out, and then at the end of the summer the Alabama. I hopefully will start work in a law firm shortly and then it'll be happy times. As for me, you can usually pick these up at significant savings on Ebay if you wait until after they have been released a month or two.

Hi. Yes, most likely I can see this one in the closet here this spring, depending on the write-ups about it and how it generally looks over all. Hopefully this will spure Dragon to re-release some of their older railway car kits and maybe even get them and other model makers to producing more of the German railroad stock to go with it in the future. I would like to have a 6-axle heavy flat car for a Tiger or two just for starters.
Take care, Larry

I have one on pre-order. I was also inspired by the one displayed at EuroMilitaire.

Was seriously thinking about this one, but, had to figure that with all my other kits, where would I really have time to do it. Good to know though that trumpeter is bringing out some interesting subjects.
