One of the problem's with Trumpeter's 1/35th 'Emil' is generally agreed, that a set of replacement tracks would be a nice idea. I noticed on P.M.M.S. the other day, that Terry Ashley, has reworked his review of the LionMarc track/sprocket set due to the set having being modified. The (updated) review, can be seen: Trackset Update ...Jim

HI, I've heard that Fruilmodel is also coming out with a replacement set for it as well. ATL-80, which solves the whole problem on my end.

Take care, Larry

I have the Emil at the top of my stash and yes,it is a handsome predator! As it was the first Trumpeter kit to become a member of the pile,I thoroughly scrutinized nearly every part and every line of print in the kit. From my view, this kit should have been very close to kit of the year. Not complicated, great but not super detail, and extremely well executed.
The tracks in my kit are the most flawless vinyl offerings I've seen.Very supple and pliable.Great detail.
Spend money on AM tracks for this if you want, but it's not needed to improve the kit.Buy tracks for your Italeri or Zvezda armor.
cheers!

You certainly won't find me disagreeing with one word of that - I don't (as a rule) like the kit offerings very much anyway, in this case, the Vinyl tracks are excellent. Having said that, I have the Voyager update set for the Emil and a niggling little voice tells me 'Well you spent all that on updates, why not buy some tracks as well?' Completely mad... The one thing which WILL need replacing on the kit is the barrel - now that, IMHO, is pretty nasty...Jim

I whole heartily agree the Armorscale edition of the Emil's massive 128mm weapon tube is fantastically done and awesomely detailed. If you were inclined to automatically replace kit barrels with AM parts then this is truly the way to go.
After re-reading Terry Ashly's reviews of both products over at Perth Milatary Modeling Site,I can find no referance or mention of kit inaccuracies or "nastiness" where the barrel is concerned.Pretty much a matter of preferance to the builder in my opinion. To be sure, rendering an injection molded gun tube the size of this can be pretty iffy, but Trumpeter has most assuredly come through like a champ for the OOB builder.Fear no evil whatsoever on this topic of quality or accuracy.
cheers!
