Just want to share with you an incredible dio found on Military modelling zone. The detail isn't perfect, but the scale is impressive !

Whoa, that is massive. Where would you keep something that big.
It would be interesting to know how long that took to build from start to finish.

Well the size of the diorama is very impressive but I can't say it's the best diorama I've seen. The colour of the German uniforms is much too green on some pic, I see trees which are just pieces of sea foam with not anything on 'em, dark green sandbags etc.
Don't get me wrong it's obvious that a lot of work has been done for this diorama but I just think not everyone should just say "wow look at the size" There are some things that could be done better!
Whoever build it: nice job but where the **** to display it?

Looks pretty good, but I agree with Martin. Bigger isn't always better. When I was in Korea, it seemed like that is a trend with Korean modelers. They try to cram as much as they can into the space they have. It is usually overcrowded and frankly the models weren't the best. They usually went for quantity over quality. Also, what is the story. It is more a collection of unrelated pieces than a dio. Good job, but a few well done pieces on a smaller base would tell a better story and make a better dio.

I agree with Martin and Gino. That is what I meant by "Sure is big..."
I have seen very few dioramas with more than two vehicles in them that didn't looked like a parking lot or a motor pool. I would much rather see a really well composed diorama that is 8x10 inches with one vehicle than a 36x36 board packed with 6 tanks, four trucks and a kubelwagon. (Anyone else think they always have a kuble or two?)

Um.... I'm afraid I don't get it. I see guys who look like they're running for their lives next to guys in decidedly casual poses. Guys working on vehicles, a convoy going ....?
Maybe a description would help, but as a stand alone piece, seems to lack focus. A shame; lots of work.
Very, very few can do the mega pieces and bring them off. I know I can't.

Somebody should have teken this guy aside and said, "Just stop!" :-)
I find this piece very confusing. There appears to be no central story. There's a field hospital, a repair depot, vehicles going on two directions, some guy in the middle crouched in a combat position, a prisoner being sent up to the flak position and half the German general staff on a bridge looking at something that must be really interesting. And then there's that oversized buiding inthe middle with the world's largest roofing tiles.
I need an ativan and a chaser just to look at this thing!

I agree with you guys as well. Bigger isn't always better :-) I have seen very few big dio's that actually work. People always seem to forget the main point of diorama building -- it's all about the story dangit!!

I agree with you.
When I said, some details miss, I make reference to some illogical fact (scale of building, soldier running next to relaxed one, color of uniforms blablabla..), but, men, When I count the number of hours I spent on very small vignette, I couldn't imagine the lifetime this man spent on his dio (even if with poor detail, it goes faster). Nevertheless, I like the Wooden Bridge, and the vegetation. When you need to build 30 trees, I think you don't spend time on each of them to reproduce bark..
So congratulations to this guy for his work !

Julien,
I am not discounting the time the modeler put in or his efforts. I think there are some things that are well done. I just think it is too busy and doesn't tell a story.
Really just a matter of personal preference.

Thats massive. It reminds of a dio from Tamiyas catalogue back in 1987/88, called "the turn of the tide" which depicts germans troops marching cross a large wooden bridge.
This dio here is insanely big, and I would go with the others saying it is too confusing and lacks a story.
Thanks for sharing it.

Ola Guys
I think I second Martin, Gino and the rest. It seems the guys thing was to cram a complete modelling shop into a big ground plate. I too just as AjLafleche thought at looking at the first picture that the building was really really tooooo large. The roadsigns say it has to be somewhere in the middle of Germany... So it probably is some sort of Hotel.... At least it is big enough. And the rooftiles are of epic proportions. Also the series of storylines really don't make it any clearer.
A interesting thing to note are the Telephone poles they are among the biggest I have ever seen in a diorama let alone in real
Figures from different sets, Doing different types of action from running to resting and everything in between.
It definately is impressive looking at the size and the amount of vehicles and figures. But it is absolutely not one of the best pieces of work I have ever seen

Dropping some of the discussion posts under the pictures into the Babelfish Translator , it appears this is built on a bed frame and took six months to complete.
It's kind of hard to tell, though. the English transaltion coming back is oten quite fractured and strange.

Its big, somewhat impressive, some of the figs seem out of place, figures crouched over and running looking panicky next to MPs standing there, one of the figures (on the bicycle I think) doesnt even have a helmet on, its one of the figures with the flat heads :-)
Also reminds me of that Giant rail gun diorama.
