I'm doing a project of a british Sherman Mk I nicknamed Helmdon (T232724) and are looking for reference material. I have found one picture through IWM. But I have also found out that the tank is on a photo in a book called "British Tank Markings & Names", and I have been looking for this book but haven't found it anywhere. So is there anyone who have this book that might consider scanning the photo

Hi Thomas
I suspect the picture in 'British tank markings and names' is the one you've already seen. As far as I can remember, the only picture of Helmdon is the one showing it being loaded with ammunition. It's part of a sequence of shots of the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry 34 Armoured Brigade, taken before Operation Totalise. Among the other shots are one of cleaning the gun of a Sherman and another showing rations being distributed.
Ken Tout mentions the photographs being taken in his memoir of Operation Totalise, with some comments on the pointlessness of censorship. He's one of the men in the gun-cleaning shot.
EDIT: My mistake, the ammunition loading shot is Hanging Houghton, the ration shot is Helmdon. Still don't think there are other shots though

Bison Decals do markings for Helmdon

Mike Canaday's site has a list of 1 NY names
http://mmcalc.tripod.com/Shermans/1st_NY_names-2.htm
It also has a colour drawing of Helmdon on the front page, but the turret number is shown as 54 Ooops.

The one I have found so far is the one with rations being distributed, so any other picture besides that one would be great.

Sorry Thomas I was wrong about the photo, and I've edited my post above.
AFAIK the ration shot is the only one out there.
