Well here is a refresher course in building bases.
Bases are where a diorama comes together.
Here is hopefully a spark into the feature area - there's a ton of stuff there.

I remember this article, and I do it like that sometimes.
But I also use cornice when I need a custom size base.

What is conice? Is it a wood product or a foam product? How do you use it?

Scott,
Check HERE for info on cornices. In SA they are made from plaster.
I've often toyed with the idea of using strips of skirting for a base... might try it on my latest base...

Oh - molding or trim is what we typcially call it here.
I've done that on square bases - very easy to do and very customizable.
Thanks Rudi.

Hey Scott.I like how you are bringing back some of the other features as there are some very useful and cost effective ways of building things.I'm always digging through the feature sections for tricks and tips etc.Another tip...My wife and i went to the IKEA a while ago.Normally i only like going there to eat the 0.50€ hotdogs....Anyways,there are so many cheap wooden products there that could be turned into diorama bases of various shapes and sizes, some pre-painted.Very handy if you have 2 left hands when it comes to your woodwork skills!
Also, some hardware stores even do a service for you where you give them the measurements for what you want to make and they will cut everything to size, ready to assemble. Some stores In Belgium do that, not sure in other countries though.Just my 5 cents..Cheers,Shay

Thanks for the reminder. I'm actually trying to piece a base together for the moment.
