Well since my last pictures my tiger has come a long way ..now all the tools are clipped into their holders and the smaller pieces have been added ..The only things I have left off are the last two rows of roadwheels to make the weathering easier ...
tools added and a first wash of raw sienna has been added ..

I used friuls on this tank and have begun the weathering with a base coat of humbrols track color then sanding off the paint an the contact points and added some MMP pigments and a wash of raw sieena..

the track changing cable was a bit of a pain but looks good in the end ..I started by anealling all the cables to make them more flexible and ended up with a very rusty colored cables that I just added a wash of burnt umber to and they look good (well I think so ..lol)

I used the plastic exhaust shields on this kit as I found the metal ones were not quite as detailed...I thinned them out and added a few bumps and bullet holes with a file and a sharpe exacto blade ...

Added the flat coat before starting the weathering to protect the decals ...

and last of all I added a data stencil from archer to the fire extinguisher ..just a little detail..

well that's it for now ...this week I'll be adding a few filters to it and a light dusting with pigments and it should be ready for the display case..

I think your Tiger looks great! I've been looking over my CyberHobby kit too and was happy to see how nicely yours is coming along. It's inspirational.

Looks really good! How are you going to weather it? Dusty? Muddy?

Thanks guys for the comments ...not too much weathering on this one ..I might just add a bit of road dust to this one ..I'm never sure how it will turn out till I get to that point ..we'll see .. :-)

we'll see about a base ..lol ...I think I better put it on a base those Friuls make this kit heavy and a base would be easier to handle ..

Thanks for the comments.

Brilliant model Rick. Did you use PEs for the clamps? I like the colorful shades looks realistic. BTW, why don't you enter it in the February armor MOM?

Very very nice Tiger you have there Richard. I especially like the way you painted the wooden handles of the tools. Can you share with us how you did it if you havent already done so?

Also with your wash, did you apply a wash on the entire model or you did a pin wash?

Hi,

I really loved your job and am glad you shared it now, as I am building an OOTB Tiger Initial. Will be a great reference for my build.

Cheers!

Hi Guys ..thanks for the replies..Arvin I used Aber P/E for the tool clamps but I did use a lot of the plastic attachements in the kit as well I found the Jack brackets and the tow rope brackets better looking in plastic than the P/E that was in the kit ...
Jeremy ..the tools are done by first painting them in a sand color I use acrylics for this ..I then let them dry over night and then take burnt Umber oil paint from the tube and cover the wood completely ...I leave it on for about 1/2 hour and then take a flat dry paint brush and wipe it off in the direction of the wood grain...I clean off the brush with a a cloth every once and a while .The more you remove the lighter the wood color..
Now as for getting it finished in time for Febuary's MoM I don't think it'll be finished in time but maybe March..
Dan if you have any questions just ask ..I'd be glad to help .

Wow bear. Looking really nice. Tools are good, paint is sharp, weathering is coming along. Its all good.... Except the cables. To me they are ruining the effect. The twist looks wrong to me. Too loose, and out of scale. This baby is so nice, I would chuck the kits and get some Karaya cables for it.

Cheers!

Great job!

Could you get some filler in here? It's supposed to be a single piece of metal.

Your Tiger looks absolutely fantastic. Very nice subtle weathering. Love how you have broken the monotony of the grey color.

Gosh thanks for all the comments ....It was a fun kit to build ...John you probably are right about the cables but I didn't have any Karaya cables around and I'd have to rip up all the attachements to replace them ...not this time but I do have a spare kit and will certainly add them when I build it again .
David ....I'm so lucky I didn't throw away the paint mix that I used on this kit ...I finished up with a couple of filters and some pigments last night and decided it was finished ...I usually then clean off my desk and throw out the mixed paints but I tired last night and told myself I'd do it today...well my kit is back on my desk and has filler added to both sides of the mantlet ..Thanks for that I should have known that ..just slipped through the cracks ...strange way they molded that piece...
Mary you'll soon find out that it's not that hard ..a good airbrush does 90% of the work for you ..it's just practice..
I'll post some final pictures as soon as the little glitch is fixed...

all the best
