After yet another (or the same?) troll gets banned, and his posts deleted, I have to say thanks to the staff here. About 8 posts were up with the heading WELCOME, and only a minute later they were all deleted. This demonstrates what kind of great staff we have here!

Down in flames goes troll number three!

Have a round... (or four)

THANK YOU!

MAN! These are really sad little people. What a boring life they must lead if this excites them.

Go and break into the NASA site. That at least would be a challenge.

Probably too young and immature for women and cars.

Stick to Bob the Builder, mate! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

A Thanks goes out to you members who are patient and deal with seeing that 'stuff'.

Jim has assembled a good group of people who moderate and keep an eye on things. And he is working hard (as we speak ) to make it even better to reduce/eliminate trolling.

Me too. I know the best thing we can all do is to ignore the posts like this idiots, so it's not as hard for the mods to take them out. If there is need for some "hot line" for us to report threads like this, set it up and I'm sure you'll have plenty of volunteers.

Agreed, we just have to be VERY careful we don't unintentionally flame a legitimate newcomer to the site. That would be really bad news.

Random useless often offensive posts for no apparant reason.

Here is a definition of an "internet troll". Normally a juvenile malcontent who gets his kicks out of disrupting online forums. They gain a sort of "keyboard courage" since they are able to insult and attack from the relative safety of being an anonymous internet user.

This qoute from "Mark Miller" sums it up.

"You are so far beyond being able to understand anything anyone here says that this is just converging on uselessness. The really sad part is that you really believe that you're winning. You are a shocking waste of natural resources..."

Yep!

(yawn).

Actually, this reminds me of a debate from a few years ago. The British Press was bemoaning the state of youth in the UK and suggested bringing back National Service. The British Forces reply was paraphrased thusly:

"BUGGER OFF!!!
WE ARE BUSY!!!
Go and offload your morons' elsewhere"!

Yup!

So its probably a 6 stone weakling who wouldn't say anything to anyone in the real world in case he gets a pounding, but will happily play the big man behind his keyboard :-) .

THANKYOU yet again to all the staff for removing the idiot posts so quickly. I know you would rather be reading new content than chasing idiots around.

Ah, good, I'm glad that that's all over and done with. I knew that it was a troll, as this site isn't exactly known for cursing, especially like that! Hats off to all of the hard-working moderators and, of course, Staff_jim! Thanks for your hard work and time!

Unfortunately, he will be back. If not in the next day or so, it will be when he is able to access computers that are not yet blocked. The bad thing is if there are other legitimate members from the UK using that same IP address that will find themselves blocked all because of an immature jerk.

An interesting read...

What I find most interesting is this next quote from the above link... I'd be interested to know if any other countries have adopted similar legislation...

Quoted Text

On January 5, 2006, United States president George W. Bush signed into law the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act, which, among other things, places a prohibition on using the Internet to transmit, solicit, or create anonymous messages containing obscenity intended to "annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass" another person. Criminal penalties include large fines and up to two years in prison. Concern has been raised as to the Constitutional legality of the law, as critics allege that it infringes upon the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees every U.S. citizen the right to free speech. This does not necessarily affect all trolls; however, it makes illegal the common trolling tactic of posting links to shock sites containing obscene material.
