OK I'm done with the Dragon Wagon, the 2 CCKW, I've received the 2 harley Davidson...
I'm planning to build an M8 too...
Do you have a recommendation for a nice WWII Jeep, 1/35?
Could be a Tamiya, since this is my favorite, but if there is a really nice and original one from another brand, why not...
Anything other suggestion on sweet Allied WWII is also welcome, looks like I have motivation for a couple of dios. Preferably Soft skin, but tanks are welcome too, as long as they are fun!

O, the newer Tamiya Willys jeep is great. It is a little jem!
This is sorta off-topic but how was the build on Tamiya 2 1/2 ton GMC CCKW? Did you get the kit #35218 or the #89648 kit with figures and accessories?

I agree to what James said, the Tamiya one is quite nice, but I think that also the one from Italeri is not that bad...

James,
The built of the Tamiya was like a dream.
Since I built this one straight after the exact same truck from Heller, it made me realize how much fun it is to built a nicely designed kit.
Everything is clear and fits perfectly on the Tamiya. On the Heller you have to guess and dry fit for ages and adjust and sand and fill with putty, a nightmare, unless you have plenty of time!
I think I have the one with the extra figs and accessories, the one called Red Ball express.
It is a little gem!
I think I will try to find the Willy jeep then. Do you know which reference is the best?
Fabio,
So far I have had only bad experiences with Italieri, but maybe only because I was building old kits. The first annoying thing, is that it takes ages to find the parts on the sprue, since they are not sorted!
But maybe this has improved in the newer kits. Do you have a reference to recommend?
Thanks for the tips guys! any other subject you would recommend?

Hi Ropi,
Unfortunately there isnt a lot out there in plastic.
I would suggest,
Tamiya Jeep (newer kit)
Italeri DUKW
Italeri/Peerless/Airfix CMP 15 cwt
Italeri/Peerless/Airfix Bedford portee
Resin has a few more options, but some are very pricey
Accurate Armour Bedford OYD (various versions available)
Resicast Bedford QL (various versions available)
Sovereign 2000 Austin K5
These are kits i have owned or seen, there are more resin ones out there but i cant comment on them.
Regards
Joe

The newer Tamiya Jeep is MUCH better than the older Italeri kit.
Also, AFV Club/Skybow has a great line of Dodge trucks.
www.accurate-armour.com has them on a fantastic sale right now (along with the Italeri DUKW).
The Dodge trucks are some of the best engineered kits in 1/35 in my opinion. I literally found myself laughing out loud when assembling one -- due to the fantastic planning and molding by Skybow. Don' t miss them!

I built the Tamiya Ford G. P. A. (Jeep). It was a nice easy build.

Beware of Wespe. Nice kits of unusual trucks but far too expensive for what they are. You also need to know the vehicle well as the instructions are not a lot of help either.
Mind you having said that if the kits were half the price (30euro instead of 60 euro I would get some) but then I have the scratch building skills to replace parts were needed.
cheers

Thanks for the advice guys!
This reminded me I had the Bedford kit in my stash, but completly forgot about it!
Had a look at wespe and accurate armor, but this is indeed far too expensive.
The "sale" on accurate armor is for a buy at 120 pounds! That's about my yearly budget
And wespe reminds me of the Deskit Citroen traction I just bought : very expensive because it is a rare subject, but then you have to be the sculptor of the kit to know how to build it...
So I will try to get the jeep from Tamiya, sounds like the best value for the buck. And the M8...
Together with the Bedford truck I should have enough vehicle for my dio!

Ropi,
I just used the photos on the web in building mine. The jeep is such a popular subject (not to mention many people own ones that are fixed up and operable) that there are more than enough photos on the web. I think Google and Yahoo did it for me. =) Besides, it's free.
