Hey guys. I have a problem whenever I brush paint with Tamiya acrylic paint. After putting my first coat down and letting it dry for a while, sometimes as long as a few hours, I then put my second coat down and it lifts the first coat off in spots. I usually wash my pieces, sometimes they are sanded depending on what they are and if they need it. I do thin them most times, sometimes not and I always put a few small drops of dish soap in the bottle when I get it for surface tension issues like I have read to do. I never reall experience this with Vallejo, testors M.M. acryl, polly scal acryl. etc. I am basically talking about small parts not large areas. Figures and such. I dont thin them all the time and when I do i just use a small amout. I know I could use more thinner maybe but I dont use alot with all the other brands Ive mentioned. Any ideas? anyone else experience this? tanks all

That's Tamiya paint. You really can't use a brush withthis formula. I'm going to be quiet now.

At the beginning there were no problems using Tam acryls with a paintbrush. Since they changed the formula it's almost impossible (at least for me) ...

Right!!!
Thats the bad thing about Tamiya. I used it to try to brush paint a model when I got back into the hobby. I really thought I had lost the touch when I saw what had happened. My paint had 2 days to dry and it still did the same thing. It does airbrush ok though.

Although I know some people say that Tamiya acrylics brush OK, even they add qualifiers like "with a little patience" or "after you get the hang of them." I'm afraid I'm with Al on this one, this paint is just not formulated for easy brush application (I don't mind them for airbrushing, however). The problem you describe is very common, as is the difficulty in avoiding brush strokes (lack of leveling). I've given up trying to brush the stuff.

I find the same thing too. I have since started air brushing the larger pieces and hand brushing only the smaller pieces. This helped alot.
