I have finally gotten Demchenko''s latest diorama posted. He brought this to us in December and here it is on permanent record.
This is a true claissic diorama showing off everything good in a diorama. Composition, story, technique everything.

I think you mean Slavs not slaves. Maybe? Ian is right though. This is spectacular work. The figures are very well done.

Yeah it should read "Slavs"
It is a great diorama, each figure is a masterpiece in it's own right. He spent nearly three years putting it together and it shows.

I really thought the original name fit. It looks to me like those are German prisioners being marched under Soviet guard. Most of those guys wound up as slaves.

Ok, Ok - I'm just going to have to go to the source - I'm PMing Vlad to get the definitive.
FYI - the original was Slaves......
Either way - still a great diorama.

When I first saw this in an earlier post, it was not only a jaw-dropping saliva-inducing moment (my poor keyboard) but my mind kinda went numb (but then again its always numb at work) for a while.
Demchenko has managed to change a simple scene into a classic. From the mud to the figure painting his skills and his ability to convey a moment is priceless.

Ditto beachbum(CK Tang). The absolute capper to this is the photography. The continuity of the scene into the distance is flawless. This is why I suggested he pursue making prints of this when we were graced with it the first time around.BTW,my jaw hasn't really made it off the floor since then either :-)
cheers!

Thanks guys!
About title.May be my Russian-English dictionary and translator were wrong and gave me something another???
Of course,I think about Slavs, never "slaves".It`s perfectly another sence:-)
As you know, most part of population of Soviet Union was consist from Eastern Slavic nations(Russians,Ukrainias,Bielorussians),
and word "Slavs" ("Slaviane" on Russian)was most often and widespread reference among Soviet soldiers.
For example..."Slavs,let`s smoke" or "Brothers-Slavs,support me with fire"
And for title of my dio I took words of one cavalry-man for standing Soviet soldiers.
May be sombody can make right translate of this title???:-)
Respect.
Vladimir.

Presumably used in the sense of 'Brothers - take a look" in which case 'Slavs' is right
