Hi all,
In my search for usefull reference to my M1A1HA Abrams project. I found several pictures of same colour of green M1A1HA in Iraq to day. Not in the normal 3 coloured NATO camouflage.
The green is darker than NATO green. Have also found a few pictures of Challenger II in the same dark green colour. What is the history behind this changing of camouflage? Is there a name or a code for this dark green colour?

Thanks

Howdy Benny. For OIF 1 the USMC had four all Forest Green(FS34127?) colored M1A1s in theater. They were all assigned to the 1st Tank Bn. So did you find the pictures today or are the pictures of tanks in Iraq today? Out here.

The Marines had a few tanks from 2nd Tank Bn. in the basic green color during Bright Star 97 due to a possible deployment to Bosnia.

The green tanks in Iraq could have been from prepositioned stocks and are replacements for damaged or otherwise NMC tanks. Or it could be like most other equipment in Iraq......Lot's of stuff that should be painted tan and not enough time or paint to do it.
