Hi
I'm currently looking for an new airbrush, since my old Aztek S1000 seems to be ready for retirement.
But it seems to be a jungle out there with a lot of different manufacturers and types of airbrushes.
I'm looking for an airbrush which can be used to both cover larger surfaces and doing fine detail work. And of course it should be easy to clean.
So far my top candidates are the Badger 155-7 Anthem and the Aztek 4809.
Suggestions and sharing of experiences will be greatly appreciated.
I may add that I'm using a Iwata Smart Jet Pro compressor and I'm mainly using acrylics.
In advance thanks
Erik

I can vouch for the Badger 155 as being a snap to clean.. I use the 360 which is basicly the same brush and final cleanup takes me less than 5 mins.
Also I use MM enamals and Tamiya acrylics with no problems what ever.. I get excellent basecoats though My fine line leaves something to be desiered but thats prob the user, not the brush.. Thing I like best about it is 1 needle and 1 tip.

After using Badger and Aztecs for several years I have settled with the H&S Evolution. I can highly recommend this brand.

Have 5 Badgers, including the 155, love them all.Just got an Itawa an HP-CS. Like it also, but all my fittings are badger after all these years, so there is a challenge there. I would recommend a web site Bearair.com for some good prices. Good luck.

Erik,
I strongly suggest that you check out Obeelik's. I believe they are located in Denmark. They sell artist supplies and have an extensive collection of airbrushes at really great prices. I live in the USA and bought my Harder & Steenbeck Evolution there. The owner, Jan, is very helpful and will answer any questions you have.
I have a Iwata Smart Jet compressor. I also have two Iwata's, a Peak C-5 and a recently purchased Harder & Steenbeck Evolution two in one. The Iwata's are nice airbrushes but the Evolution is IMOP much better. You get two needles, two color cups. It come apart much quicker and easier than the Iwata and you can remove the needle through the front of the airbrush as opposed to pulling the dirty needle back through the airbrush body to remove it. Something I never liked. Anyway, just wanted you to be aware of other options so do yourself a favor and check out Obeelik's and the Evolution. BTW, I was a little afraid of ordering from a place in Denmark but it was much easier than I would have ever guessed. I had my Evolution delivered to my door in 3 days. Jan has always given me good advice and responded promptly.
Hope this helps,
Chuck B.

Thank you all for your comments and sharing your experiences.
Seems that the H & S Evolution is becoming a top candidate.
I only have one concern.
Since the H & S Evolution two in one kits comes with different tip sizes, i'm not not sure which sizes suits my needs (I'm doing armor in 1:35 scale).
Does the H & S Evolution two in one include an air hose? And does it fit the Iwata Smart Jet without additional fittings?
3 days, thats swift action, taking into account that its actually over seas delvivery (Obeeliks is located in Belgium)!

I think I'll settle with the H & S Evolution.

Erik,
The Evolution does not come with an airhose. I suggest that you contact Obeelik's and tell Jan what your intended use would be and he could suggest a tip size. Also, tell him that you have a Iwata compressor and hose and he will also send you the right quick-connnect for your airbrush.
Something else to consider. If the Evolutions do not come with a pre-set handle, I suggest you consider this feature. If you are new to airbrushing, it can help avoid mistakes. My Evolution did not come with a pre-set handle and I ordered the "quick fix" and screwed it on the back of my Evolution. I also got this from Obeelik's. If I am not mistaken, I think the new Evolutions come with a pre-set handle now but something worth checking into.
The pre-set handle limits the amout of rear trigger travel and so the amount of paint that will be sprayed. I think this is a nice feature to have.
Hope this helps you,
Chuck B.
