Am I correct in neither of these tanks saw action?, Which one had more potential to make it into battle?

Has anybody did the Dragon E-100 1/35 scale model?, Comments on kit?

As far as the Maus goes, it is an open question. Some folks contend one of the two built saw action in Berlin or Zossen. Others say neither saw action. As far as the E100 goes, I have no clue.

Well the Maus didn't have a proper turret and the E-100 didn't have any tracks or a turret. There used to be rumours that the Maus saw combat but it was only used for target practice after the war had ended. So potentially the Maus would have been the first into battle ( if they could have found enough fuel to fill it ). I think it would only have been used as a mobile pillbox if it did ever saw service as maneuverability was a major downfall.

P.S I will probably be corrected in a minute by someone who knows more about this than me ( well that's about everyone actually :-) )
EDIT- Brian is right, one did have a turret. Told you someone would correct me LOL.

The Maus would have ben the more likely to see battle. I know that there were 2 Maus prototype contructed before the end of the battle. One had a turret and the other didnt. Supposedly the story goes, when the Russians were closing in on Kummersdorf, they were going to use the Maus but the one with a turret suffered mechanical problems. In the end the crew sabotaged it. The one on display in Kubinka shows the 1st prototypes turret on the second Maus hull.

As for the E100 - Only a hull was every constructed. It was suppose to be the successor to the Tiger and Panther tanks.

The E series tanks are very interesting to say the least. Lots of plans were made but many prototypes.

Hope this helps

Actually the Maus did see combat, the second prototype Maus with the gun turret was used to protect the proving ground where it undergoing trials, if you read the Schiffer military series book it gives you the complete run down of the prototypes!

As regards the E-100, only the chassis had been built by war's end and was sent to Bovington for trials, after which it was destroyed!
