Okay well my airbrushes are having a hard time. My badger has a cracked o-ring i need to find at a store, and im re-furbishing an old aztek 320( new nozzle and gravity feed) which il use for little jobs like pre-shading, things like that because its fairly easier to clean. I was thinking of adding a hp-c to my collection for some time and though i could use your thoughts. I'm very satisfied with my badger but would enjoy a gravity feed and as a back up. I was planning on getting the hp-ch Hi line. The store i plan on getting it from sells it for 380$ cdn i believe, which is about 330$ american. Now il probly be getting it for under 200cdn because my father, being friends with the owner and an old mechanicien who dealt with them, has a good price.

Im aware this brush can do very thin lines, but can it be used to paint lets say a base coat? and would it spray properly thinned tamiya acrylics? And how expensife are the parts?

Could anyone recomend this airbrush. Im guessing the regular hp-c is pretty much the same, so comments would be very appreciated

ps, i realize 380 is quit expensife compared to other shops, and im wondering why that is,but like i said i wont be paying that kind of money.

Frank what O ring do you need.....
Part number needed????

If you can afford the Iwata, go for it.
It's just another tool, and you'll use it a lot, and be happy with it.

Can't help in the use of acrylics, since I rarely use them. Those that do willbe able to answer that for you.

Hey Frank,

I have an Iwata HP-CS and use both enamels and acrylics a lot, so I can sort of answer your questions.

I replaced my old Aztek (can't remember the make number, but it's the one that comes in the wooden box) when it died with the Iwata and the difference is just enormous. It's not that the Aztek was bad; it's just that the Iwata is that much better.

Both enamels and acrylics will spray without a problem through my a/b, so no worries there.

As to the base coat issue well when I got the Iwata someone advised me to pickup a .5mm nozzle & needle as well (the HP-CS come standard with a .35mm nozzle & needle) this cost only about $20 more and is one of the best investments I have ever made. The .5mm is superb for broad coverage and the .35 is used for the fine detail stuff.

Parts wise it depends on where you shop. I have just had to pick up a new nozzle after I buggered the mine and the cheapest place I found was Great Models. Although it depends on where you live and so on.

I hope this helps.

Cheers
Darren

www.currys.com a cdn retailer can hook you up with the HP-C Plus for around $250.

Here is their description

I am using the Iwata Revolution CR (.5mm nozzle) $80 cdn, their cheapest brush I think, and the only thing it's missing IMO is the ability to preset.

Greetings,

Just wanted to add my $.02. I have two Iwata's, a Peak C5 and a Harder & Steenbeck Evolution two in one. The Iwata's are very nice airbrushes with very expensive replacement parts. Ever since I got my Evolution, I love it.

With the two in one you get two different needles, two different color cups, solvent proof seals. It comes apart easier and faster and you are able to remove the needle from the front of the airbrush as opposed to dragging a dirty needle back through the rear of the brush with the Iwata.

I got mine from Obeelik's which I believe is located in Denmark. A little apprehensive about ordering over seas but quick reponses from the owner, Jan, made me feel at ease through the process. I ordered with my credit card and got it delivered to my door in Illinois in 3/4 days. I also ordered some additoinal items from him and the service was just as quick and easy.

Before you make up your mind, check out Obeelik's and the Evolution. If you decide that way, you won't be sorry.

Hope this helps,

Chuck B.

BTW, my Evolution, with delivery was under $200.00 US
