Hey, I have been building models for quite a while now (WWII and modern aircraft mostly) but have never put together a dio. I wanted to make like a hanger scene like in the pascific campaigns or a dio of an airbase in europe some where. Weeeellllll, im kinda lost on how to do the hanger, because i was going to do a metal hanger but dont know what materials to use, and i jsut need some help
Thanx

WWII hanger scene. Wow could you pick something more ambitious? For a first project this may be too much. How about the plane in front of the hanger then you only have to build a false front. Looking at historical aviation books should give you an idea of what the hanger would look like.
Next you need to pick the medium. Will it be a wooden structure? Metal? Each has its building difficulties. For a metal structure use Plastic-struct architectural shapes for the frame and model railroad corrigated sheet for the siding. For wood use can use balsa, bass woods.
Plan well pilgrim and you should be OK.

I agree the hanger maybe a bit ambitious, why not set it in the desert surronded by a "wishbone" sand bank made to protect it from air attack and bom fragments.

Yeah thats exactly what i want to do, but you think that the hanger would be too hard for me? Thats kinda wut i would like to do though. maybe with a p-41 in a field site or a hawker hurrican like in an airbase at pearl harbor. But for a desert scene, do you mean like between sand dunes and a camo net over it, thats not a bad idea but the thing is how do i do the hills, and what plane should i use. I could use a p-40 kittyhawk, themain problem for me would be trying to make the dunes. where as i would use just a flat scene for an airbase? what to do? what to do?
