I have finished weathering, now I need to figure out what I want to do for tracks.
As always comment away!

Hi Branden,
This is truely magnificent!! Even the close-ups doesn't give anything away....This kit BEGS for a set of Friul tracks!
Would you mind revealing your method of doing the rust effects, they are very, very convincing!!
Keep up the good work!!
Grtz, John.

Beautiful, you have created that 'tired, worn and battered' look absolutely wonderful. One observation, you have the cover over the muzzle, which implies a road march ( back for repairs/refit?) in which case the barrel would be raised, not lowered. If it wasn't for the muzzle cover this would make a perfect 'abandoned' Pzr IV.. ( Fruils or like indytracks are perfect to simulate a thrown track.. )
Well done so far

Henk, thanks a lot. The muzzles are covered because the crew has pulled off the line for refit. Would the barrel be down if the crew was not in the tank? It's not all glued up yet, so I can still fix it if need be.

Superb work - I especially like what you've done to the inside of the turret stowage bin. Looking forward to seeing her with tracks!

Branden,
yes, when the gun is not in use it's locked into position by means of a travel lock inside the turret. It's basicaly a bar attached between the turret roof and the breech, which points the barrel upwards.

HI, This is and excellent build, with great painting and weathering techniques. Not to mention the pictures themselves. Absolultey fantasitc. Really.
Yes, like the others here I concern that a build of a caliber yells out for the best in tracks. Fruilmodel. Absolutely.
Take care and keep up all the good work, Larry

thnx for sharing your pics. May I offer one observation?
I'm pretty sure that the schurzen stand off armor were 5mm thick metal hung on fairly flimsy brackets. The chunk you've taken out of it and the subsequent bending seem to be too extreme for the plate to have remained on the hooks. The kind of force required would have torn off the plate or ripped off the mounting hardware rather than just bending the plate.
I hope this makes sense...

You're right Roy, but the loose fit of the skirts meant that often they would just pop of their mountings. The mountings where designed for this. They could be easily re-attached. How the crew was to achieve this whilst under fire does not seem to have been subject of a OKW order... . Often battered AFV can be seen with skirts with different finishes, evidently picking up and using whatever is available on the battlefield. The kit supplied mountings are of course to thick, but I think that was already covered in an earlier build thread.

Thanks Steve. The whole rust effect was just trial and error. I don't know that I could ever repeat it. Oh well.

Oh, the figs are coming along better than I thought they would so I may be able to post some mock up pics.

Very nice Branden,
The weathering effects are very well done and the side skirts look very realistic.
Well done, looking forward to seeing the finished model.
