Where can I find inexpensive models of German tanks on the internet? Most places seem to be as expensive or even more expensive as LHS when you factor in shipping. I really wnat to pick up some good Dragon and DML kits for cheap!

Hobby Lobby when they have their 50% off model sale or 40% off coupons on the internet. The retail price is high, but the discount makes it worthwhile. They normally carry the newer Dragon kits.

If you want second hand kits from guys selling their excess, then try here:

Lots of good deals can be had. Ebay is a good source too if you're willing to invest the time to wade through the deals from the typical stuff.
As for online shops, I like the following (each has strengths and weaknesses):
www.greatmodels.com
www.discountmodels.com
www.militaryhobbies.com (free shipping over $50)
www.spruebrothers.com
www.luckymodel.com
www.hlj.com
www.tristarmodel.com
If you want several kits, combining an order to one of the Asian stores can be economical (the US$ isn't as strong nowadays -- it used to be a no-brainer to get deals at HK, Japan and Australian onine shops)

Check out http://towerhobbies.com. They have the cheapest kits that I have found, but they don't have much in the way of AM.

There's always E-bay as well. But be careful about shipping, some guys are on the other side of the world and you'll end up paying more for shipping than the kit itself.

You aren't kidding! I think I've been to about every link in this thread and still come up to at least the same if not higher price than the LHS. At least there I can see the item to get a better idea of what I'm getting. Trying to model on a budget sucks!

I understand your sentiments, however that pre-supposes that you have a LHS. Mine is a comfortable 200+ miles away....
I can certainly buy on-line within Spain providing i'm:
1)Prepared to pay more for postage than I would from HK or Japan,
2) If i'm prepered to pay 2 (sometimes 3) times the price I pay in HK/Japan for the same kit. How many of you would pay around $70 for Tamiya's new Stug III?
3) If i'm prepared to wait 2-3 weeks for an order which can arrive in 5 days from HK.
4) Prepared to support the robbery perpetrated by the importers here...
In conclusion, those of you who are fortunate enough to have a good LHS, support it. Those of you who don't...Jim
