Hello All,
For those of you that remember the Jessica Lynch story, here are a few photos of what's left of the vehicles. My friend in one of the photos is currently serving as an advisor to the Iraqi Army (2nd Tour with them). The Iraqi SgtMaj in the picture with him was assigned to that base during the invasion. He said that his commander knew they were going to loose so sent his soldiers home. The Sgtmaj and the commander then surrendered to the Marines. Anyway, here are the pictures.

Jeff,
Yes, they are still there. He took these photos yesterday. I emailed him and requested more. He told me it may take a day or two but he is going to take shots from different angles and send them to me. I will post them to my gallery once I get them.

Why are they still there? Why were they not removed and scrapped, or whatever?

I was sure wondering about the timefame! The Jarhead has the new desert MARPAT and that wasn't in wide use as of the invasion. The only people I remember having seen it on at that point was the Commandant and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps! That is wild that they haven't cleaned up or at least robbed the vehicles for anything useable!

Hello All,
Those pictures were taken 4 days ago. The Marine in the pictures is currently serving as an advisor to the Iraqi's SgtMaj unit that's in the picture with him. The wrecks are located on an old Iraqi Army base that is being renovated for the New Iraqi Army. There are quite a few areas with in Iraq were destroyed American equipment can be found. In 2004 when I was stationed there as an advisor I came across some as well.

From a guy that used to spend a lot of time around that stuff you'd be suprised how much you could salvage. They probably wouldn't need to as long as supply kept up but if something was NMC they'd do it in a heartbeat!
