I am in the process for making a new base for a 1/35 figure. I am using the bottom of a semi-square pencil cup. The area is about 3 inches by 3 inches. It is made out of black plastic. The problem arises with the rounded corners. I have though of using tape but I do not want to pull the base material apart when I remove the tape after it has dried. I tried styrene and dipped the whole assembly in boiling water but it did not adhere closely to the corners leaving a gap.
I have also considered using a wet cardboard and letting it dry against the sides with rubber bands or tape to hold it in position while it is drying.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Pix would be great.

Best Regards, DF

I would like to try and help you out MJ but I can't visualize what you are referring too or trying to do. Perhaps you could show us a pic or two.

I'm having a hard time picturing this, partly because I'm unfamilar with a "Pencil cup," at least by that name. What I use for figure bases are either 2 inch square blocks (which I stain) from Michael's of AC Moore for single figures or their small decoupage plaques in the 3 - 4 inch range of larger, depending on the scene. These cost from $.50 to $1.29 each.
I drill holes in theme before applying a base of Celluclay with or without the kit supplied base.
Have a look through my photos for samples.

Are you trying to add a lip, or some kind of trim, to a rounded square?
