Hi Janwillem,

both brands are good, but require a bit of "getting use to" if you come from enamel colors. This is mostly the cleaning and priming bit that one has to get used to.

Both lifecolor and AV has their own thinner for their brush paint which I use. The lifecolor thinner can also be used for thinning paint for airbrushing - so can water btw.

for Vallejo color I only use their AV Air range for airbrushing. I would assume that you can thin their brush paints as well, but the AV Air range is made especially for this and works with great success for me.

Hope you can use this input

After years fighting to get the Lifecolor out of the airbrush (I've tried water, their thinner and almost everything elese without being successful) I managed to thin the Lifecolor using the ubiquitous Future Floor Finish!!!
For the Valleyo i never had problems thinning them wit simple demineralized water...
Ciao

I use water for thinning Vallejo, the brush paint range. The Vallejo site has a good tutorial on using their paints, take a look in their drop down menu in the model colour acrylic section. (I think, I can direct you better once I get home tonight)

Dont mean to hijack your thread jan..
Fabio, so your lifecolour paints shot ok through the airbrush using future as a thinner? Reason im asking is because Ive had no luck with anything, always got a splattering spitting mess.. The biggest reson I dont use them anymore jan...

Dave,

I thin my Lifecolor with either their thinner or plain water and shoot through the ab with no problems. Only problems I ever get are with certain colors-mostly light ones. Takes a few thin coats to get coverage. I also clean my ab using plain alcohol and it works fine for cleaning.
