I know we have been rolling with the site related topics lately. A newcomer is like to think we are all full of ourselves. hehe... BUT I could not let this land-mark number roll by without some fanfare. Rather ironic we are hitting it on the day after Armorama's first birthday.
I am sitting in the MSN chat room to make the first toast.
Cheers,
Jim

10 million page views!! And the sexiest thing on this site is Gunnie's photo gallery! That is amazing. Like I've said before, Jim: "If you build it, they will come." Nice job on the best modeling website on the 'net.

Incredible!
In honor of this fantastic feat, I shall pop open the bubbly in approximately two hours. (Got to get out of work first.)

CONGRATS! - This is further evidence of your credibility and creativity in web design!
10 Million is a landmark... so tell us Jim.. when you first decided to put up the website, what were your goals? Was a 10Million Hit year one of your expecations?
Also, how many members do we now have, and do you know how many non-member "base vistitors" have come by?

Keith,
My original expectations (and I don't know why) were that the site would eventually top out around 500 users and I would see about 5,000-10,000 pages views a day. Yesterday (today) we did 88,000 alone.
We now have 1749 members. And this number per day/month does not seem to decrease. So eventually I think we will have 5000. Yikes! As for visitors to the site it's hard to say precisely. But I would guesstimate (based on user signup percentages) that the site has been visited by over 50,000 unique people at this point. Perhaps more, of course not all of those may be hobby minded people.
Cheers,
Jim

Dear Jim,
I believe that hobbies, like many other callings, "find" you. Getting into dioramas found me when I was walking in a mall and happened upon one of the first Verlinden books. It was music and lights. But the quality was so good it intimidated me, and still does. But, he also included a few tips, which was the first time I saw anything like tips in print. Then came the Shep Paine helpful books and even model railroading books (and some classes) got me more comfortable.
I am still a rank beginner, having worked on and off on the same diorama for 10 years. I have targeted May to finish because our local IPMS is hosting a Regional and that's as good a reason to finish up as anything.
But, your website has helped more than you would know, because a good hobby, no matter how bad you are at it, soothes the soul, after the obligations (and pleasure) of work and family. You are a doctor of good things. Your site is the best. If I can help (remember my lack of talent), tell me. If you need some money to offset a bit of your enormous generosity, tell me where to send it.
Thank you Jim. Thank you Armorama. Please feel the good effects of what you are doing when you feel the site is starting to control you. Congratulations.

Sealhead,
Thanks very much for your kind words. Sorry it was briefly followed up by some trollish hi-jinks (since removed). I do like to hear that that site is doing what I had hoped it would, that being build a real online community of hobbyists. It's a team effort though. If you haven't visted the Supporters Roster page please do.
And we are about a million away from 20 million page views!
Cheers,
Jim
