Well here goes my first posting in the diorama forum as an absolute beginner. This is the Tamiya Flakvierling with a light dusting of micro-balloon snow dusting the ground and the carpet which took ages to clean as hairspray has such great holding abilities. There are some additions to make the whole scenario busier later. I meant to say sorry for the picture quality but I did not Have my Fuji Camera at this time and did not have access to zoom and macro.

Hi John:

Let's see some more pix when you get further along,
please. From the one photo, I like what I see. Sorry
about the rug, mate. Bummer.

I like the rocky base and also the weathering of
the vehicle. Very nice. Keep up the good work.

Looks good and well done but a bit empty on the pic. The additions you mention would probably be a nice idea!
Keep up the good work!

John you should be very proud, you have a finished build and it dosen't suck, soon I will be attempting figs. and vechs. and unblooded , are scary to me, as I haven't completed any.
I have grandoise plans but am still a virgin in certain areas.
I think you have a very nice build there and I have the same kit and I hope I can give it equal justice, as yours is very well made - keep modeling - upwards and onwards - Cheyenne

It is a very good AA halftrack you got there! Very good weathering! I also like the groundwork! Just one small comment: shouldn't the halftrack and gun shields have a little bit more of white wash? But nevertheless you've done a fabulous work there! It's really very, very good!
Cheers and happy modelling!

Looking good John, just one observation, the snow cover. As there seems to be no snow under the vehicle it looks as if the vehicle has been in this position for some time, during the snowfall. I that case there should be a covering of snow on the vehicle. If however the vehicle has just arrived, there should be (some) snow underneath it, and the tracks would have left marks behind. But as your still working on it I'm sure you'll sort that out.

I like the weathering of your Halftrack, particularly the mudguards and deck. Just a touch of darkgrey/black pastel over the tyre sidewalls would just be fine.

Cheers
Henk

I am grateful for all those that have commented and I shall continue in trying to build dioramas to go with my projects all of which so far in my life have normally been attached to polished plinths. This one was my first real attempt and I found the pictures on an old HP camera that had not seen the light of day for quite some time, being superseded by a couple of digital cameras.

I feel heartened for my efforts which will make me make some more attempts. I will take in mind those comments about the snow and should explain that having watched some programme on sattelite TV, was the inspiration to build a diorama that reflected the time between the rains of the autumn, when the roads were muddy ditches and that time when the first frosts had fallen along with light snow, so the ground is frozen solid. I had looked at someway to show frost but ideas not inspiration escaped me, so the flakvierling had remains of muddy tires, but the snowfall was minimal with more threatened, hence my view of weary soldiers knowing that the harsh winter is coming and looking forward to the warmth that spring will bring. I will try and get one of the completion pictures suitable for posting shortly.

Thanks though for all of the advice and suppport which Armorama has as an underlying aim and will see me making further dioramas and not just placing vehicles alone on a peice of varnished wood.

Thanks to all,

John
