Can Krylon Matte Varnish be used as a good substitute for any flat clear coat like Testors Dullcote?

I've been using both Kryon matte and gloss coat for some time now and it gives the same results as the hobby specific clear coats. It comes in larger spray cans, is more readily available and is much more reasonably priced.

I did a side by side test of Krylon and Testors last summer.Testors was more consistant in overall sheen.Krylon left some parts glossy and did not 'dull down' as much as Testors.I will try again soon and introduce a third contestant to the test More on that later though
