Hi everyone,

How many of you remember this kit? (warning you will date yourself :-) )
I remember building two of these when I was in grade school. Come to think of it they might still exist in my parents attic.

Wow! This does bring back memories!

Very nice selection! I think most people were thinking ground troopers and vehicles rather than aircraft.

No doubt about it, the BUFF was a major player in Nam. I spent a year and a half on Guam supporting the bombing missions. It was a major operation to keep both the airplanes and the crews flying.
Good choice Brian.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my progress with you on my B-52. I getting closer to finishing. Its really amazing how much work a small scale aircraft can be. When I was a kid I don't remember it being this time consuming :-)

I hope to finish it in the next week. Hope you enjoy.

Wow... that is really really nice... I am envious of the paintjob!

(I tried my hand at a 1:285 (I think) Academy (I belive) kit.... mine came out ugly with a capital U).

Great job!!!!!!!

That camo scheme looks great. I can't wait to see it finished.
Did you use hard masks for the camo or freehand?

Hi guys,

Thank you for the compliments. The painting is really the best part of building in my opinion. Ted yes, I painted it freehand with an airbrush. I did pencil in the outlines on the model before that (4th picture) I used an Aztek brush with the fine spray nozzle (Tan) for following the outlines I penciled. Then I used the general purpose nozzle (Red) for filling in between the lines.

I was in the process of posting some new photos last night when the power went off so it did not happen before I went to sleep.

I'm at work right now and do not have access to my home computer. I get off work at 0730 tomorrow so will post them at some point for everyone to see.

I used dry transfers for the tail markings (came out great but they are lots of work) I need to camo the auxillary fuel tanks and flat coat the top of the bomber then install the copit and gunner canopies and I should be finished.

Hi everyone,

Here is the updated pictures of the B-52. I'm close to finishing

Much more labor intensive than I remember as a kid but I'm happy with how it's turning out.

sincerely,
Brian

You can clearly see the decal paper on the USAF. Other than that it looks awesome. I can imagine hundreds of little explosions among the trees now

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the compliment. I agree the USAF is pretty shiny. I placed gloss under it before applying the decal. I have not applied a dull cote to the models top surface at this time. I suspect that once I do that the film will disapear.
