Looks good Matrix
that`s some lovely action shown there. The figures you are using are they scratchbuilt?? or is it a complete kit.
I also like the wooden structure at the right sde of the pit. what did you use to make those??
looks good can`t wait to see that one finished.

Very Nice - It show great action and motion. Great start.
I know it's early and there's a lot of work to do as you go through that work be sure to done down the shineness and I would recommend darkening the blood to more of a maroon color.
Keep us up to date.

Tanks all.
I have the ground work painted now and all the things laying around have been painted too. The next step is going to be torning the logs ( wooden structure on right hand side of the pic) into palm tree logs. I cant remember were I got them from but they came in a kit with other berricades. I will post new pics soon.

Zach,
It is not quite the same but close. The box is what got me inspired to build the dio. I had the figgures in my room for 3 years and finaly thought of what I would do with them.
The figure poses are slightly differant and the surrounding trench is differant. I didnt want to copy the boxcompletly so I changed a few things to stay with the main idea, but not to take someone elses work and make it my own.

Another tip, the boots should be green/black jungle boots. They look to be brown boots in the photo.

Probably you have already thought about this but it wasn`t mentioned here before
you could add some long dry grass around your trench you could try to get the landscape just as in the movie we were soldiers. I think that`s quite a good reference if you are dealing with the groundworks.
Also I have a question about the fuelbarrel you have laying there on the right of the trench. I hope for the soldiers that it`s empty or filled with some not quickly inflammable fluid because with the barrel inside the trench the "nest" would be one gigantic bomb
(I don`t want to be a nag)

Hey Faust,
When I get the new pics up you will see that it is empty. In fact it hsa several bullet holes in it. But I do agree with you, that would be a bad place for a full barrel!!!
My photo host is having trouble with there upload service so I will get the pics up as soon as possible.

great update Matrix
Now I can clearly see that the barrel on the edge of the trench has to be empty
damage looks good man. Also the red soil of the vietnamese ground worked out very well
Are you going to put some long grass around it??
I think that will really show up nicely. It also give the landscape a more rough appearance
I know that there are big fields of this long grass in vietnam and there is also footage of VC soldiers that are crowling through the grass as near as possible to the US soldiers to attack them the same was used if the VC were ambushing the US soldiers while on patrol
hope this is of any worth

JUST SAW YOUR POSTED PICS OF THE NAM DIO.
LOOKING PRETTY GOOD SO FAR, I AGREE WITH MOST OF THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS, PARTICULARLY TONING DOWN THE BLOOD COLOUR.
i REALISE IT'S AT AN EARLY STAGE BUT HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS...
DON'T FORGET SOME BLOOD ON THE GROUND OR SPATTERED ON GUYS UNIFORMS TOO. THINK HOW MUCH BLOOD ENDS UP ON THE GROUND WHEN YOU GET A SIMPLE NOSE BLEED! IT WILL APPEAR ALMOST BLACK WHEN SOAKING INTO THE SOIL AT THAT SCALE.
ALSO, IF THE GUY HAS JUST BEEN HIT, YOU WOULD SEE THE REMAINS OF HIS FATIGUES THAT HAD BEEN RIPPED OFF WHEN THEY DRESSED THE WOUND. ALSO THE DISCARDED FIELD DRESSING CONTAINER.
DON'T FORGET THE LUBRICANT OR CLEANING FLUID BOTTLE JAMMED IN THE HELMET BAND OF THE GUY ON THE SIXTY EITHER! HE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE A SPARE BARREL TO HAND AS WELL AND AN ASBESTOS GLOVE TO PUT ON FOR CHANGING THE HOT ONE OVER. PUT SOME SPENT ROUNDS BELOW THE GUN TOO, I PRESUME HE'S ALREADY STARTED LETTING RIP IF THEY HAVE CASUALTIES.
ADDING A COUPLE OF MAGS, 'PLAYBOY' OR PERHAPS 'THE GRUNT' LYING AROUND WOULD HELP THE REALISM TOO, PERHAPS WITH A MUDDY FOOTPRINT ON THE COVER, AS WOULD A TRANSISTOR RADIO - NOT A CASSETE RECORDER! UNLESS IT'S A VERY EARLY ONE, OR OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS.
PUT GRAFFITI ON THEIR HELMET COVERS TOO (PEACE SIGNS, SLOGANS, AMERICAN STATE NAMES ETC), A FINELINE (PERMANENT) PEN AND A STEADY HAND WILL DO THE TRICK!
IF, AS IT APPEARS, THE SCENE IS DEPICTING ONE OF THE DEFENSIVE POSITIONS AROUND A FIREBASE. IT'S QUITE LIKELY THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE TRIGGERS FOR CLAYMORE MINES RIGGED ON THE PERIMETER WIRE, IN THEIR BUNKER. THESE ARE FAIRLY EASY TO SCRATCH-BUILD. PAINTED FISHING LINE IS GOOD FOR MODELLING THE ACTUAL WIRE AT 1/35 SCALE. CHECK OUT A FEW NAM FILMS FOR THE CLAYMORE TRIGGER REFERENCE.
LASTLY, DON'T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR SOLDIER'S ELBOWS AND SLEEVE BOTTOMS FILTHY WITH MUD, AS THEY WILL PROBABLY HAVE BEEN LEANING ON THE PARAPET PRIOR TO THE ATTACK. LITTLE DETAILS LIKE THAT MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
KEEP IT UP THOUGH, I'M SURE IT'S GOING TO LOOK COOL.

Hey, it's looking great, aside from Holocaust's great suggestions I'd add a bunch of spent shells along the outside of the berm part, some on the top, and of course the ones that may have rolled into the bunker itself.
Great Job though!

Thanks for all the great comments and tips! I will use many of them. How would I make the remains of the pant leg and the medical supplies?

How to make remains of pants leg...
Personally, for that sort of thing I use some stuff called 'Solarfilm'. It's what radio controlled aeroplane modellers cover the wings of their models with, and you apply it by heat-shrinking it. Messing around with giving it too much or not enough heat is good for simulating different fabrics. It's good for canvas covers on trucks too. Of course you could always go for the old tissue paper and white glue technique. Which would probably look fine too.
Dressings...
There's a good reference scene at the beginning of 'Platoon' for dressings in Nam. It's where the new guy gets killed on the night ambush, come to think of it, I think it's got claymore triggers in that bit too.
