Pod, some people will decry the Aztek, but I have to say that I have had some really good results with it. I also bought the metal one and still use them alongside my Paasch. One thing that amazed me was that they offer a lifetime guarantee, mine ceased working after almost 6 years and it was replaced with a brand new unit as they had no spares of the right kind. That was from the UK agent in Enfield. Sure Iwatas are without a doubt excellent and I want one but for a first airbrush is it worth spending a great deal of money?

Good luck in your choice.

I also have an Aztek of which you described. I've been using it off and on for about 5 years now.

The weak point of the airbrush is the tips. You need to take care of them. After having used other airbrushes I thought the tips were just to be thrown into whatever solvent you were using. That worked a while, but then I had problems with the tips and have found myself having to take the tips apart, thus voiding the warranty, but have not had any problems since then. I bought it thinking the tip system would make clean-up faster, but have found out that it is all about the same with whatever airbrush you have.

But having said that I must say if you want to change colors quickly and/or line width, no other airbrush beats it. So far I haven't seen a need to change airbrush since getting it.

If you have never used an airbrush you might want to see if you can try the airbrush before you buy it. Since you are thinking of buying the 4709 kit means you have the money to look at other comparable airbrushes too. I like it, but the use of an airbrush is highly personal...

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Been using my aztec for a while now and have been getting fair to good results with it.. I use the tan tip for almost all of the painting I do.. I just adjust air pressure depending on what I need to paint.. Clean up is a snap if you are using acrylic paints..

I have one. I love it. It takes all the abuse I throw at it and still works.

Might need a new tip sometime which should cost all of a couple of £s'.
