Hi All,
Just sat down to splash some Humbrol 66 around some MOLLEs and kitbags etc. When I noticed Humbrol make another Olive Drab!
So they have
66 Olive Drab and
155 Olive Drab
What would be the most accurate or would a mix of kit in the two colours work?
TIA
Tom

None are the most accurate. Just like OD paint on vehicles, gear color varies with age, manufacturer, eposure to sun and weather, etc. Use a few different colors to give variety.

Gino is correct about the stuff fading depending on sun exposure, age, cleanliness, etc.
The newer equipment is no longer in OD green but something called foliage green which is lighter in color.

Tom, just walk into a military surplus store and look t the second-hand stuff and you'll get the picture, or for that matter, have a look at the pairs of jeans in your wardrobe. Trying to get the right OG is like trying to find the right Levis blue.

Hi All,
Even cam fades. One thing that rubs me sometimes is the quest for the perfect, original colour when paint and fabric fades. I agree with the "if it looks right, it probably is" theory.
Cheers
Shane

I know that when I served British combat clothing was designed to fade to obtain a background that was more likely to blend in with the natural world. We even tried hard to get clothing to loose the new brightness.
I found that even having three sets along side the others that they faded and looked different, non were the same. This was the same for our heavyweigh 54 pattern webbing as well so giving actual paint shades to use is very difficult and one that must be accomplishes using the Mark one eyball and various mixes to get just what you want for your kit.
