Ola Al

Well that is something completely different. I only know you as a figure man.
Not much of a Modern Armor man I have a question as to what the white things at the side of the turret are.

Very good job.. knowing you there will be a very nice crew with it too eventually

Nice so far. I can see that you've got newer style smoke dischargers. But what are those large stowage boxes toward the rear of the turret? They appear to be in the same color plastic as the kit, so I have to ask if Academy has updated their old kit somehow.

How could we have guessed that... there was no information at first :-) :-) :-) :-)

Still looks like a clean built and I still want to know what the white things on the sides of the turret are

That is one nasty looking tank! It looks like something out of the future. I've always loved that tank. I think I have the older Tamiya version. I have to get another updated version. Hey, you know who has a nice Merk? Aj Lafleche, yep, he drilled all those little holes in the back of the turret for those dingle balls.

Maybe if we ask nice, he'll dust it off and post it for us.

Carman,

thats a nice clean build but I have two objections:

1. in '97 the Mk.II looked quite different from the academy kit.
beside the smoke dischargers the skirts and boogies were replaced with the same items as found on Mk.3s, infantry bustle racks were installed on the back of the hull (also a' la Mk.3), an armor plate was added to the engine deck on the driver's side, an additional armor package was installed on the roof of the turret and the thermal sleeve was changed to the one with clamps on top of the gun and not on it's two sides.

these changes upgrade the tank to 2B standard and the easiest way to implement them to the Academy kit is to buy Legend's Mk.2B conversion and their Mk.3 boogie set.

2. the lockers on the sides of the turret. have you actually seen them installed in person or in a photo?
the armored corps doesnt sympatise with unofficial field mods so its kind of weird for me to see this.

all the best,
Elad.
