Hi All,
i'm hoping someone can help clarify colors used on Romanain armor during the period they fought alongside the Germans; I have found alot of pics but their black and white and what little info I have read has been conflicting in the fact one side says a medium to dk.green and other side says khaki.,what shade khaki they didnt say.
any good books with pictures and maybe color plates?
TIA

Hi Thomas
I'm sticking with the green given by Zaloga and Grandsen in 'The Eastern Front' until something better appears. Looking at photographs of the tanks in Bucharest Museum, it seems to me that they have been repainted - the R-35 is the same green as the BTR-60 in the background of the same shot.
Did you try the discussion forum on the worldwar2.ro site?

EDIT: I see that you did

This wonderful TACAM uses Tamiya Olive Drab (XF62) which seems a good place to start

Oh man, lol I forgot I asked on this forum already, geeze sory for the double posting guys but I do really appreciate all the help you all have offered.
David that is a nice looking model and it is one of the same kits I have on this project list so that article will help alot! thankyou for the link.
And thanks for the color schemes, am going to search some old booksellers I know of for this book .
Alguhan, thankyou for your offer to help and I graciously accept , besides the kit that David sent the link to I also have the other CMK kits of the LT vz 35/ R2 but am interested in any other types of picture reference of vehicles used by the Romanian army at the time they fought with the germans.
Again sorry for the repeat post , I will keep track of my posts in the future lol
I think my problem was I asked this same question in a few other model forums and lost track of where I posted but no response from any of the others so I think from now on all I need to do is ask here.

The full title of the book is 'The Eastern Front: Armour Camouflage and Markings' by Steven Zaloga and James Grandsen, published by Squadron/Signal or Arms and Armour Press. Bought mine new in 1983.
Been looking some more at the WW2 site and the museum R-2 looks like it may be a plain Pzkpw 35(t). The R-2 should have an angled turret rear made out of two plates - check the bottom photo on this page

Hi Thomas,
I emailed you what I have. Unfortunately the whole about the ww2 Romanian armor that you can find is just at those links given by David..
For some specific questions I can find answers from the Romanian modeller forums..
From that photos and illustrations we know that they had green, tan or grey armour. In one of the pictures you'll see a GAZ, off road Russian vehicle is almost black painted, even the photo is B&W it is visible..
