I was wondering what steps do people take when they paint their models. I'm totaly new at the paiting process so if someone can tell me their from priming to decal application (including washes, drybushing, decal solvents,, etc..), it would really help me out and you'd be in my cool book Also what paints are best, what about future floor stuff, etc...? Thanks in advance...

Ill get you started Austin Future
Everything you need t oknow about Future Floor Wax...
I wash with soap and water, assemble, prime, paint, apply future then decals. dullcoat then weather.. But there are as many different ways to do it as there are models to build... Try lots and pick what works for you..

hi austin here is what i do
wash all parts in soapy water first to remove the mold agent then i assemble the main hull leave off the wheels and tracks at this stage build the turret and barrel etc include any closed hatches handlles, engine covers etc leave off the tools ,ropes,mg,s etc for now basically build a basic hull minus wheeels

then spray/paint the 3 main pieces hull, turret, and wheels i leave the wheels on the sprues as there easier to hold with your primer coat when dry check for seam lines ,gaps, pits pin holes and any floors in the finish sand and fill as required then repaint as needed with the primer
then spray/paint your main colour to the 3 main pieces when dry seal the turret and hull with future/klear leave to dry 24hours
meanwhile break out the wheels, clean up and paint the road tyres then seal with future leave to dry 24 hours meantime paint the tracks ,tools etc and when dry seal with future and add to the model not the wheels or tracks leave them off
now your ready to apply your decals to the model do this and seal again with future to set the decals and give a glossy surface for the wash set aside for 24hours
now your ready to wash i use dark grey or black for the wheels and suspinsion units do the wheels flat so the wash doesn,t pool at the bottom , i then do the hull with a wash of raw umber and burnt sienna remove in the useuall way
i then leave the model a good two days in the top of the airing cupboard to fully dry the oils longer if needed when done add the wheels and tracks i then add ground pastel chalk to simulate dust, soot, mud etc then its finished put in place and touch up any lost chalk powder
as i say this is only my way and i,m sure there are many better but i hope this helps and i,ve explained it clearly good luck gervais
