Hi guys

I've got a two part question. A friend of mind gave me a Israeli Ti-67,
An Israeli captured and modified T-55 /54. The kit is from Trumpter, and appears to be older. Can anyone tell me anything about it, i.e. problems, any after market sets available e.t.c.
Lastly, can anyone point me towards some ref sites on IDF armor ?
Thanks in advance

Hi...

You are going to have a lot of fun working on this model...IMHO the earlier trumpeter models are a test of patience....but they are very affordable...at least in singapore...

As for fitting problem...you should get your putty and sand paper ready !!!

Check out this link on my attempt to do one....I am currently taking a break, not modelling just enjoying this forum....

Hi Mike

Thanks for the quick reply. You must be able to read my mind. :-) I just got done writing a pm to you in reference to your "67" over on the review page. Great looking piece by the way. Thanks for the web sites.

For me, the most obvious fix is the lower rear hull, which needs to be cut out and angled differently. It boggles my mind that initial reviews of these kits talked about it sitting 1mm too high, yet left this out. The second fix would be the oversized drive sprockets. Best bet here is to purchase any one of the old Esci kits, which are dirt cheap. Then you can replace the other offending parts as well, namely the tow hooks, the turret lifting lugs, and the two front turret openings. The kit looks a lot better with just these few fixes. Of course, if you replace the drive sprockets the kit track will not fit. I do not know if Esci track will fit. It'll obviously fit the its own sprocket, but the length on a different kit might not work out with the link and length style track. Tamiya track will fit the Esci sprocket, but definitely not the Trumpeter one. Since a lot of guys are using Fruils for their Tamiya models, you might be able to get the Tamiya track fairly cheaply from one of them.
Also, if memory serves me, you have to delete the two fuel filler points on the rear hull. I believe they were for their Type 69 kit. (I'd use another reference other than me, since I no longer have the model to look at)

Harry, here is a site that has a comparison about the various T-55 kits on the market. You might find some of the information useful: http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~TANK-GUY/KIT-REVIEW06.html
