Was planning to back date the Tamiya kit but.........

Are you sure about that? I've looked nearly everywhere and came up with nodda.

It would be nice to see a new or at least updated halftrack...

I haven't found anything about an Italeri Halftrack. I an currently working on thier M8 and can tell you that if they do bring out a halftrack, you are probably better off with the Taniya models. It seems like there are always fit problems, ejection marks, ect on any Italeri kit.
That said, they do make some interesting subjects. Like the Steyr Tractor (with 1/4 inch of sprue sticking up out of the top of the cab like a horn). OK, my Italeri rant for 12 March 2002 is over.

LOL! I'm with you - the Steyr RSO is a fun kit to build and comes out nice, but what gives with the Unicorn-treatment?!? That plug is downright dangerous Suffice to say, building an Italeri kit is always an adventure...

I'm sad though - even the prospect of a new set of half-tracks from Italeri is better than none at all...

Oh well - only 500 more kits to build

Wow, didn't expect such surprise!

I'd heard rumours for some time, but via THIS site and the greatmodels page (toyfair) linking into their 'pre-orders' page, is clearly "M2/M3 Halftrack", item number it6390.

I haven't built an Italeri model in years, but as the tamiya kits came out when I first started modelling (24 years, man and boy) some new take on this will be appreciated.
Especially as the M2A3 never entered production and any useable model needsa bit of backdating.

Not to say it's a bad kit.

Sorry I missed this the first time around....Welcome to Armorama, Rob!

Is it maybe a re-release?? I found it listed at Greatmodels: it6390 M2/3 halftrack...hmmm
I'm guessing now, but with the price...maybe it is a new release. It was due out back in November according to their site.

Are you guys sure no one got this one mixed up with the M3 Scout Car that Italeri released? It is a reboxing of the Zvezda model.
And another thing that bothers me, is that Italeri has not updated their site since September last year!

Actually the M3 White Scout Car started out life as the Max Peerless kit which was then absorbed by Italeri (along with the Dodge WC series trucks). Testors boxed the kit in the 80s too. Italeri and Zvezda did some lending of molds (or is it just purchasing bag kits?). Italeri last re-released the M3 during the 50 year anniversary of the end of WW2, and just recently re-released it this past year.

I did hear that Italeri was doing a new half-track, I hope it is true.

Regarding Italeri quality...

I wish they'd bag their sprues, but overall I'd say the kits of theirs I've built have been nice. I hunted for the "good" ones by cruising all the web sites, but so far I've built their M4A176 (nice, but needs more details), the M20 (just nice) and the SWS with rockets (fiddly, lots of ejection pin marks, but builds intoa nice kit).

I have to say the price is right!!!!!

I'm looking forward to their DUKW, and the Crusaders are nice kits (I have a II and III to look at right now!).

LOL - the information was posted here actually in the New Releases section - I printed a copy and found it on my workbench at home. Maybe we're growing so fast it's beginning to get easy to lose information. Duh!

Hate to resurrect such an antique thread guys, but.....
I have noticed in the "Dream Model" thread references to US M3 halftrack kits, as well as the fact that I love those machines. Found this old thread about an upcoming release from Italeri of the M3.

Now the bad news...the kit # listed in Great Models website for the Italeri M3, is actually the order # for the new M1A2 Abrams. So my guess is that there is no new kit upcoming of the M3.
I sure wish someone(AFV, Academy) would do some kits on the M2/M3/M5 and varients.

Don
