Hey guys, I am almost finished with my campaign diorama, but I need your help. My sniper will be in a kneeling position aiming out of the top window beside the bed. I have some weathering and drybrushing left to do, then I will add a liberal coating of snow. But, before that, what else do you guys think would help? I promise not to bulldoze my building like Eagle did his shed.

Patrick,
You have made the classic "Not enough of the MSN image URL" mistake. It's understandible.
To get the ENTIRE url you must click on the image properties box and drag down. Then you will see that the URL is actually a few more lines long and ends in .jpg (more than likely).
Cheers,
Jim

Patrick,
first I'd like to compliment you on this very nice entry (even if it isn't fully done yet)!!
Maybe you could add some details to the bedroom.... there's always a thing a little reading light, maybe a pillow, a book laying around that sort of tiny things. Make sure that this bedroom "tells a story".
And if I had to finish it, I should ad some more debris. But even without it....A very good entry !!

The pics are too small for me to get a really good look so I can't suggest much really, however, it does look like there isn't any evidence of fire on your wrecked house, if a building had been shelled that badly and it had any gas piping in it for lamps (quite likely) it would almost certainly have had a fire, posibly even a further explosion.
You can simulate that really easily by holding a candle flame on the bottom of a tin to blacken it, then apply the black residue from the tin with a cotton bud or similar. Put it on the walls and the ends of timbers to make them look charred, think about how a bonfire looks the next day if you need ideas.
Also, don't forget to consider how the sniper got up there in the first place, is there a ladder? If he climbed up, he would be covered in plaster and brick dust.
Shift the bed to a bit of an angle too, it would probably have bounced around a bit when the building was hit, and it seems unlikely that anyone would have bothered to straighten it up to the wall again! The blanket on the bed would be filthy too if the roof had come in on it, all that plaster dust and crap would be everywhere. You can use real plaster dust for this.
If you want to simulate the ruptured gas piping in the building, you can do this with copper wire poking out of the flooring or walls.

Ok Plmp
first let me do this for you
PLMP s dio campaign building
I put the link in for you
I looked at the pictures at your MSN Album and they looked very natural. I especially like the bed. with the blanket on it looks very good dude.
If I were you I would put a roman next to the bed. As long as there were books printed they were read in bed so that would certainly to the job
What was earlier mentioned± A small rteading lamp would also make the bedroom complete. Look what you have in your own bedroom and copy that. So much are the bedrooms not changed in those 58 years
my two cent s for this post

What I see that is mising is 'stuff'. A nite stand, a lamp, a picture etc..
You have a room and a bed, but where is the rest of the room stuff? Imagine your bedroom getting hit, then go from there.
Great construction - I like the dio and the theme, just add 'stuff'

Patrick,
I fixed the last one. You can click edit on that post to see what's different. Basically you need to get the photo properties on the full sized images. By the way I was wrong about the url for those ending in .jpg. Apparenly MSN puts additional variable coding on the end.
Nice work on the structure!

Forget the home trainer bike and that TV remote control. WWII houses did have a crucifix on the wall (a rare item in European households these days) and a light. Not the kind of light you have at your home bedside, but rather an oil lamp. Don't forget a chamber-pot !

Anything that HAD been on the walls would have fallen to the floor. Book cases and armoires would likely have tipped as well. YAY! Look at the back of these, plain wood with finished sides. Historex has sets of accesories which could doubled as chamber pot, lamps, etc. Books can be faked with folded card stock tinted crimson, brown or black. A scanned and reduced magazine, do a web or e-bay a search for period magazine and resize an image from there, might look good, too.
