The Armor Center is hosting a Platform Performance Demonstration at Ft. Knox. The objective is to gather data to see what current vehicles (off-the-shelf) have capabilities beyond those of the M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV. The demo will not determine which vehicle will be selected and will not result in a vehicle purchase.
This is not to be confused with the ongoing program that is designing a future tactical vehicle. This is a vehicle demo that is being conducted for the various branches, armor/cavalry, MP, artillery, combat service support, engineer and the USMC was invited to observe. Because of the variety of missions these units perform, vehicles being demonstrated may differ in appearances and performance. In other words, each of the proponents recommended vehicles they wanted to see demo'd. There are vehicles being demonstrated that were requested by one or more different branches for entirely different roles. This is not a test or evaluation, nor is one vehicle being compared to another.
