Hello
Wondering if anybody can help me.
I am trying to find drawings for the AT-45 Prime Mover.
It was a vehicle based on the the T34 tank.
I am wanting to use the new 1/48th Tamiya T34/76 as a base for the model.
Can any one help?
Thanks
John

Hi John,
That's a tough one. I hope someone has some drawings for you but as far as I know even pictures of the AT-45 are rather rare. There's one on this page from the Morozov site...
http://www.morozov.com.ua/eng/body/history4-17.php?menu=history4.php
There's this drawing from a 1/72 TP Models kit on Tracks 'n Troops...

Best of luck with it!

Interesting. Did they move the engine up front?

Hello
Thanks for your replies.
I know that drawings are out there some where.
They will pop one day.
John

John, From viewing the AT-45 pictures on the Forum, this looks very much like the Voroshilovets artillery tractor. In fact I would go so far as to suggest that the Russians merely replaced the running gear.
Plans (1/35 scale I think) of the Voroshilovets appeared in the Russian Modellist Konstructor dated 5/1995.
A Soviet publication I saw recently also had Voroshilovets drawings, the title is something on the line of "Vehicles designed by the Kharkov Morozov Machine building Design Bureau".
Another book, in French, by Alain Dupouy, is titled Les Tracteurs et Engins Speciaux Chenilles Sovietiques, Tome II. This contains some Voroshilovet plans too, although they might be considered inferior.
Barbarossa Books may be able to provide some or all of these sources.

John-B...I believe you're right. I didn't even think of that. Here's a nice pic of a Voroshilovets on ArmchairGeneral...
A larger version is linked on this page...
http://rkkaww2.armchairgeneral.com/galleries/auxiliary_vehicles_2.htm
The cab for the T-45 looks like they took the cab from a Voroshilovets, split it in the middle and added a center section.
John...and guess what! I know where some nice online drawings of some Voroshilovets (as well as some earlier Russian prime movers) are located. Check this out...
It, in a huge version, and many more are on this ArmchairGeneral page...
http://rkkaww2.armchairgeneral.com/galleries/auxiliary_vehicles_3.htm
The bottom drawing shows some of the interior. It might be something to use in the AT-45.
There's also the Morozov page on Voroshilovets which has some big pictures and srawings...
http://www.morozov.com.ua/eng/body/traktors/voroshilovets.php?menu=civil1.php
Jeepney...interesting question. I don't know if they moved the engine to the front. It does have that giant radiator out front, and many of the other designs have the engine up front. I'm thinking it did especially since the AT-42 clearly had a rear engine. If a rear engine was okay, why not stick with the AT-42?
For books, AviaPress has a couple of interesting looking ones...Bronekollektsia N3 2002: Red Army Artillery Tractors, parts 1 and 2...
http://www.aviapress.com/viewonekit.htm?BKL-200203
http://www.aviapress.com/viewonekit.htm?BKL-200502
Since we're talking about Russian Prime Movers, I should also mention ArmyBooks has some really cool ones from Russian Motor Books on the AT-T...
http://www.armybook.com/summary.html?code=0103004j22
AT-S...
http://www.armybook.com/summary.html?code=0103004z77
ATS-59...
http://www.armybook.com/summary.html?code=0103004z21
And the AT-S-59G...

Note: The ArmyBooks server has been having some problems the last couple of days, so if those links don't work, just try them again later.
Take care.

Karl, Many thanks for the additional websites. Very interesting and these are the plans and some of the pictures that I was referring John O'Reilly too. It was nice to locate all this material in one place.
Jeepney
The engine was already located in the front of this tractor (and others) and when the Russians constructed a good design they stuck with it.
For the AT-45 I think they merely adopted the T34 running gear to the Voroshilovets chassis.
This has been quite a good eye opening exercise.
Many thanks guys, I've enjoyed delving into an old favourite again.
Regards, John-B
