In the PTO the Sherman’s used, during the Saipan Campaign, "rubber, self-sealing water tanks, fastened to the bustles of some of the 4th Tank Battalion's vehicles, enabling infantrymen to fill canteens in the midst of a fire fight" I've enlarged a number of photos and can't quite get the details, Strapping, hose attachments, etc... And was wondering if anyone had any detailed photos or descriptions of these tanks. Anything might help.
Thanks ahead for any responses,
Bob

I was watching a show the other day on the Sherman and they said that some crews fastened water containers to the hull to stop them from brewing up when hit. The sherman was known to brew up (germans called them Tommie cookers) and this was one of the ways to combat this issue.
Sorry, dont have any pics.
