Hello there,
Just completed my first Tiger, DML kit 6252. Would appreciate comments and critics.
Some details:
OOB except for the engine grill, PE from Tamiya
Tried pastel chalks but doesn' t seem to be successful. Would appreciate if someone would show me some examples on effects of pastel chalks.
Would like to thank jonnysocko (your pics were great ref!), Erik67, MightyRhinox (for advices on pastel, though I did not really suceed this round, will give a go for the next one!)
Cheers!

Might be due to problems with the Gallery, if that's where you posted the pics. We seem to be moving to a new server, and things are not settled-in yet.

I like the way you painted the tracks. The overall body had a nice metallic look to it as well. Looks like you dry brushed it all around? Which colour did you use?

Thanks for the comments, Jeremy,
The tracks was first painted flat black, followed by flat brown and then the metallic gray. The brown helps to create some shadowing. Pastels was last. Lastly, dry prushing with silver, then flat coated overall all again to remove the shine of silver!
Cheers!

Dan,
That's a nice built you have there.....
I always wants to built a tiger in german grey but not sure about the color mix...
1) Which color mix did you use to achieve that ? I really like the color fir the one you have
2) Did you do any wash for that tiger ? What color of wash did you used ? and did you apply semi-gloss to it before you filter ?
Thanks for your help....

Hi Philip,
1) The base color would be Tamiya's German grey with flat white, bout 1:1, followed by overlayed of 1:2, so as to achieve the color tone after sun exposure.
2) Yup. did washes, I used oil paint (Newton's) and glossed it with Tamiya's Clear (you can use Future as well), before applying the wash.
Hope this is helpful for you.
Cheers!

Hi Dan!
Really great work there, like others, i love the paintwork you've given the Tiger.
Now i've some inspiration to get out of my modelling rut.

I think you did a good job Dan. I think the pastels did good. You can also try regular chaulk. I use the big ones that you buy the kids in the big bucket. They have all kinds of earth tones including a dark grey that works well for dusty German grey . I just scap a little pile of dust with the knife and dust with a big brissle soft brush. It can also help take the shine off some areas if you feel the need?

And it's been a long time since I last hear from you! How's your work on some of the campaign? Saw your name on 1 or 2.
