Gday all
Doing the Dragon kit this afternoon... Both pleasurable and frustrating (Think Man U's season) The instructions refer to a part that doesn't exist, (Has anyone found the small bracket the horn sits on?) And with the extra sprues from other Dragon Shermans you are told to use certain tools when the pioneer tools on the spares are a better choice... The rear deck lifting rings are the same ol joke, so luckily there were some spare accurate ones for the side of the turret which with a little work can be made to fit...And the glacis lifting rings seem to be both slanted to suit the left side of the tank...
Just having a little lady here; these probs can and will be overcome... On the plus side, the hull fitted beautifully, the transmission housing set up which promised to be fiddly worked great with the PE chain links, and it will be great to not have to texture a hull for once! Anyone had similar encounters?
Cheers
Brad

Yes, I'm experiencing similar things in the kit I'm building too. I'm chronicalling it all for submitting here on site. How far are you along with yours? I'm close to painting now...

I'm doing "In The Mood" - like probably several dozen modelers around the 'Net. When I wrap-up this one, I think I'm going to use another kit to model an M4A1E9...

I'm gonna snatch up a few more of these and do another from the 2nd AD and then maybe a flamethrower tank in Germany and then another kit as a regular gun tank in Germany during the liberation.

The flamethrower sounds interesting - do share pics as you go along!

I am almost up to putting the hull sections together... Then to tackling the bogey assemblies. Would you say the pillow blocked set are the way to go for an early version? Like "In the Mood"?
what do you know of removing the 2X fuel filler caps under the edges of the rear cover for the air intake? Heard that they should be removed to represent an early version?
Cheers

Nearly forgot...
Matt, if you are building "Duke" then make sure to alter the serial number by adding an extra '0'... Not the wrong number, but just has a zero omitted... I alluded to this in another thread...

Note the second digit, the zero, is extra to the kit decals

Those two fuel filler caps are a mistake by Dragon carried over from their early M4A1 75 kit. No M4A1 76mm had them

Brad,
I've already marked this down from the previous thread.

Thanks again,
Matt

Thanks Pat
So no (76)mm M4A1s had them... Man, they were hard to remove without touching that lone rivet
