I love the way oils mix but don't like the limited military colours I was wondering if there is such a medium that produces the same surface as an oil paint would, then I would use oil paint colours to blend shadows and highlights. Basically I want to paint figures: I paint the base coat in acrylic then apply a staining of this mythical substance then add shadows etc with the ability to blend in this concoction with out changing the base colour. I have seen techniques where people put a coat of oil paint on the figure but that tends to make the figure too dark does it not?
