Just got this one, and looking for information on it, since it is out of my normal realm of modeling! Thanks,

I've got the RPM kit of the T-26T, turretless artillery prime mover. Nice kit for an Eastern European kit.

Sweet. This is exactly the start I am looking for. Like I said, don't know scratch about this tank except it's a vickers chassis. And built by the russians, captured by the Finns. Great start, before I tear into this one.

Wow. Quite an abundance of information there. Looks like that is a good chunk of what I need. *grin* This looks like it's going to be a fun model.

There's a great book out there that covers the T-26A by Armada. If you are interested in trying to find it go to www.airconnection.on.ca. It is called "T-26 part 1". It covers the early models of the T-26 which are the dual turreted ones. If you can't find it and need any specific information, please feel free to contact me. I have the book and would be more than happy to scan some images for you. It is nice to see someone else with some interest in early war Soviet stuff. :-)

BTW, which T-26A kit did you get, Mirage or Zvezda? If you got the Mirage kit you've got some work cut out for you when building the suspension as it is a bit tricky. Unfortunately, the Mirage kit isn't as accurate as the Zvezda one (hopefully you got the Zvezda one) because it is the old Sponjnia 7TP kit built up to look like a T-26, while the Zvezda kit IS a T-26. Both are decent kits, but the Zvezda one is a good bit more accurate. Regardless, with a little TLC they can both be made into nice models of a very interesting subject.

Which way do you plan to build it? Both machine guns or 1 machine gun and 1 37mm gun? If you do AM stuff, Model Point makes a 37mm barrel for the kit. Also, both Friulmodel and Modelkasten make tracks, Moskit makes two exhausts (one for the single turreted version and one for the double turreted version), Aber makes PE fenders, and Eduard makes a PE set for the Italeri/Zvezda T-26, but it will work for any T-26 kits.

Haven't even got that far on which variant to get. Yes, alas, I did get the Mirage one, not going to knock the giver, since it was a christmas present, you know? But, with the vickers versions of the 6-ton tank, I only know a thimbleful, so I have a LONG way to go. The Mirage kit might be off, but, I was surprised for a "third world" kit, that there was very little flash, or mold slippage. Decals looked a little thick, and some of the smaller parts are going to be difficult to get off the sprue, but it's going to be a fun little kit. And, I am not really a micrometer kind of guy, so, in the end, if it looks like a T26A, I will be happy.

But, I am kind of leaning to a tank in the mid 30's era, twin MG turrets(kit comes with both possibilities, probably not accurate on the 37mm), somewhere off in Siberia, with riveted turrets.
