Brian, those look fantastic! How did you make the drums? If I didn't know better I would have thought they were the real thing.

Nice looking crates! And is that a "wurfrahme" in the middle of it? Looks so good! What scale is it?

No, it's a sturmtiger shell. Brilliant Brian, as I told you earlier, absolutely fantastic crates, especially the metal bolts holding them together, Amazing work!

Ah! Now you say it Vinnie, you are right.
It's too big for a wurfrahme indeed.

The crates are made from Lime wood strip - range of sizes at http://www.westbourne-model.co.uk - it has a very close grain which is perfect for the scale.

The oil in the drum is a section cut from a black cd

Small bolts made with the 'Nutter' , large ones are Grandt Line. Metal rods and large nuts painted with MRMetal 'Iron' then polished.

Handles on crates made from .5mm rigging rope (see above url), and .3mm lead wire and Nutter foil.

Markings were sprayed on via Stencilit set.

Stil have to weather the drums

Awesome job. The crates look fantastic. I would have never thought about using a black CD to replicate oil. Very creative.

Cheers,
Ryan

The two smaller ammo crates are based on those from the Tamiya tank ammo loaders kit:
6x12x26mm
5x10x30mm

The larger wooden box is 15x17x45 - I will be making a few more of odd sizes

I made the boxes from Lime wood strip of varying sizes/thicknesses. They were the washed with Vallejo Natural Wood and drybrushed with a 1:10 paint/water Vallejo Mahogany Wood Stain. The rocket shell crate was given the same treatment but with higher paint ratio and then given a satin varnish
